The part is made up for 4 distinct sections – the overall threaded body with the compression fitting, 2 rubber washers, and a nut that sits on the ‘wet’ side (inside) of the tank. You’ll need to make a hole in your tank to fit the part – and you’ll need to make sure the hole is a neat fit around the threaded section of the connector. When inserted with washers at either side, the tightened retaining nut creates a watertight seal around the point at which the connector enters the tank.
