About this deal

I also love cedar, and creamy ambers, and soft tuberose. I love Cedre, and Fred Hayman’s 273. This has an ethereal lightness but is still grounded with that amber that almost has a spicey vibe, but is still fresh and green, no dried spice at all. It’s like when sweet and sad or hard and soft collide in a striking way that is an extremely well-balanced tightrope walk that doesn’t leave you conflicted or in tears. I own both Shalimar and Kismet and I have to say that there is not much resemblance between the two. However, this beauty is much closer to Shalimar Parfum Initial, my beloved Guerlain. It just smells smoother now. How can something have a more powerful effect and sillage...but no lasting power or longevity!?

I would not splurge 200 € on for a 50 ml bottle of something I only enjoy for the first few minutes. On my skin, the opening is a beautiful bouquet of fresh white flowers, enough sweetness, enough deepness without giving away the presence of wood. Petals everywhere. I found Kismet to be almost identical to Rochas Moustache EDP to the extent that it is most certainly a clone of that fragrance specifically as opposed to being a Tuxedo clone. Moustache & Kismet are as close to 1:1 that you can get in a fragrance. The difference is subtle, they are so close with Moustache having only slightly better performance and quality that it isn't even a factor in my opinion.

First spritz... And I was hit with an overwhelming scent of hairspray. Whuhhh. I was so confused. Can't figure out what's causing it. Evoked Dried-Tobacco-Leaf with VANILLA, VETIVER & PATCHOULI. In the first couple of minutes there's a burst of warm & fresh spices. As the sillage opens up, there's an evoked dried-tobacco-leaf note with plum-y/raisin-like nuances. All of the other notes are serving to support & enhance different facets of the evoked tobacco leaf. This has above average performance for a year-round wearing experience, but some people will become anosmic. I decided that I would give it a try this morning since I would be in a temp controlled environment all day. I still put down a base layer of "By the fireplace" and put about 4 spritzes of "Kismet" on top. I was really excited with my buy until I returned home, got prepared for an outing and sprayed the fragrance on me. In the meantime, I couldn't find anywhere the smells of the other "Killians" that I had tested.

For the price this is a steal, if you like this scent profile. And even if you don't , I don't see why not this fragrance cannot grow on you. This is a wonderful tuberose / white floral scent and for the price, I am really impressed with how amazing it is!Then the warm mid notes and base pop out. The vanilla, opoponax and labdanum create that delicious waxy vintage make up smell, which i adore. This is a dupe of Moustache EDP Rochas and I would say it's about 90-95% similar although it might get more similar with an aged bottle. In Kismet for Men, vanilla-vetiver-patchouli does a good job of giving an impression of the benzoin in Moustache EDP Rochas. The opening fresh & warm spicy notes last longer in Kismet for Men, but the benzoin in Moustache EDP is more swoon-worthy for those who don't go nose-blind to it. Overall, this is a pretty good dupe, but not better than the OG Moustache EDP imho, since the benzoin is my favourite part. Moustache EDP has better performance, but it seems that many people go nose-blind to both of these.

Have to admit i bought this fragrance blindly after hearing of YSL Tuxedo on a Demi Rawling video where she called it the best men's fragrance ever. Her raving about it seems really genuine (In time i learned to take Youtuber's opinions with more then a grain of salt). Rochas Moustache was unavailable for a while in my country and frankly i prefered this one's presentation. Both this and Moustache are clones of Tuxedo. However, this perfume needs HEAT and SUNSHINE and that peppery top note fades within 15 minutes. And then you get all those creamy, fleshy yet fresh florals. This is one of my favorites. It's a little weird, but I like weird. After a few minutes the florals began to come out. It was another confusing moment as it was sour smelling florals with a tinge of hairspray, but when I sniff at my wrist it was much sweeter, mostly tuberose and jasmine (that I can discern anyway) Needless to say that in about an hour not me nor the people around me could smell the "GGGB" that I had bought and sprayed for the outing. I'm posting this review to be informative for those looking at Kismet as an alternative to Rochas Moustache EDP. Its a really good, smooth fragrance for gentlemen. Versatile enough for casual wear AND formal wear but not necessarily a fougere or an aromatic and certainly not an ultra masculine scent. Instantly to me this scent evokes an image of visiting grandparents on a holiday like Easter or even 2nd day of Christmas or going to church wearing your sunday's best. Not because the notes are reminescent of the holidays i mentioned or of scents you might encounter at a church. Oh no no, not at all!. What i mean is those ocassions where you dress up nicely and make an extra effort to stay humble, polite and caring. It is not oldschool AT ALL but it reminds me of the carefree days of the past, when i was younger, on last day of school / highschool during the end-of-the-year festivities where we all wore uniforms or suits. Way before becoming burdened by adulthood's problems.

I find the main difference between the two is that Moustache has slightly more vanilla or better quality vanilla that makes it more noticeable. However, I do love osmanthus. I’ve even been eating fresh apricots hoping they will taste as good as an osmanthus perfume, lol. Not yet. I swoon over the osmanthus dry down in Serge Lutens Bapteme du Feu, and I just wish Nuit de Cellophane was longer-lasting. I am really enjoying this latest release from Lubin. Kismet is a delicious, balmy vanilla scent, super cuddly and perfectly suited to the cooler months. I was sampling a whole bunch of white florals in a row, and this is the only one that really stood out to me. I thought it was a little complex, I had a hard time describing it. It was definitely the most interesting in the line up. Contrary to others, I have not observed any change due to masceration. Smells and performs the same as when I opened it. To be perfectly honest, I generally disregard claims about masceration, since there's no way to reliably know how long it's been since a particular batch was made when you're buying it. In addition, I expect a quality fragrance to perform out of the box - I'm not in the market for scent bonds that need to mature (and if it needs to mature, the manufacturer should mature it and sell us the finished product).Actually, if this had been a cheap perfume, I would probably have been less lenient and would have attributed such a drydown to poor quality. But this is Kilian, so they're allowed to be strange. Delivery Delays: Soghaat is not accountable for delays due to Customs inspections or other factors beyond our control. You'll receive what you've paid for, but please note that delays during transit are beyond our control. This is a totally respectable dupe of Tuxedo that gets the basic notes right, but in slightly different balance, and with a reliance on aromachemicals instead of naturals. I think it's a tremendous value, certainly when compared to Tuxedo. I think that "The Tux" gets closer to the proportions of the YSL original, but I prefer Kismet to The Tux: I just think that this is the better smelling combo when it's all aromachemicals. Frankly, I am really disappointed not to have found any value for money in this buy, because this perfume is absolutely overhyped. These are different, although there are striking similarities with vanilla & patchouli, and this gets more similar to Tuxedo a few hours into the dry down. Tuxedo has vanilla-patchouli more forward and a more obvious rose accord, while Kismet for Men has a more forward vetiver. Both have excellent performance. Tuxedo outperforms.
