"This is why 'bourbonism' is spreading like wildfire downtown". BizJournals.com (Llouisville) . Retrieved December 6, 2022. Sorry, but I can’t get past the name of this brand. It feels like a statue that needs to fall. We live in a world where NASCAR gets that message, it’s time this whiskey did too. On the palate, it has strong caramel and vanilla. Moreso, we like the sweet oak finish. 3. Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch

Finish: Some of the graininess subside on the finish leaving behind more Payday candy bar notes. I can even taste some chocolate after a brief pause. The chocolate helps highlight some oak on the finish too. The finish is uncomplicated and just sweet enough to remember the last sip as an enjoyable affair. Score: 5.5/10 My reasoning behind this has to do with the Evan Williams Experience being located in downtown Louisville. So it would make sense to distill, age and bottle that whiskey nearby.

In 2020, with more expressions on the shelf than ever, there are a lot of bourbons competing for your attention. And yes, some of them seem to get a little too much shine.

Evan Williams Single Barrel is the only vintage dated single barrel Bourbon on the market. Similar to the way vintage wines are selected, our distillers hand-select individual barrels that meet the specifications they’ve established. Then each bottle is marked with the vintage date it was put into oak, along with the year it was bottled and the exact barrel number of the single barrel that the Bourbon was drawn from.” Wow, thank you very much, you made my night! I always write from experience and since I’ve never mowed arugula I can’t use it (but if I ever do expect that note… and a story). It was almost impossible to get away from this whiskey at one point. That’s not some grave injustice — this is a perfectly fine bourbon, for what it is. The whiskey is sourced from the Four Roses Distillery (for now) and then aged at Bulleit’s facilities, adding their own mark on the juice. That being said, recent controversies and that over-saturation have taken some of the sparkle off of this expression.

Evan Williams is more than likely chill filtered before it’s bottled. That’s not a terribly big deal because a majority of Heaven Hill products are too. But it does make me curious what kinds of flavors might be lost because of it. a b Sarah Shadburne (May 5, 2021). "Evan Williams releases first bourbon from Downtown micro-distillery". BizJournals.com (Llouisville) . Retrieved December 6, 2022.I just bought my second bottle of this stuff and I love it. I live in BC, Canada, and Evan Williams isn’t widely available. They do however sell it exclusively in my city at one liquor store. I find it sooo much better than other budget bourbons like Jim Beam. Like night and day. I’ve been using it to make old fashioned’s and have not been disappointed. Does alright on it’s own too. Finally, for a whiskey to be called bourbon, the only additive can be water, and only to proof the whiskey down. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. Evan Williams Fire is a cinnamon-infused bourbon for a hot cinnamon taste that will give fire to your belly. It has impressive brown sugar, oak, and caramel notes on the palate and a remarkable long and lingering finish. 4. Evan Williams Green Label

It must be created from a mixture of fermented grain (called mash) that is at least 51% corn. The other 49% is usually a mixture of barley, rye or wheat. Angel’s Envy does some great work in aging whiskey. Many would argue — myself included — that this expression isn’t the best example of that work. For me, it’s too sweet. Verging on high-fructose pancake syrup. If that’s what you dig in bourbon, please don’t let me stop you from loving this. Still, I find their more adventurous and refined expressions to be what people are really talking about when they name drop this brand.Evan Williams Bottled in Bond doesn’t normally need all of that exposition behind it. It’s a bourbon that many of my bourbon drinking friends associate with an easy drinker for a great price. There’s a reason the awesome “work horse” brands we love exist and that’s because they’re really darn good and I don’t see any reason to poo poo them just because they’re cheap. Just like something that is expensive isn’t necessarily good. Nose: I find the opening scents in my glass to be pretty standard bourbon fare. The bourbon itself smells sweet, like a melted Payday candy bar.
