About this deal

While this story has been told before many times, Steel’s characters had such potential. However, she squandered that potential because she constantly told her readers how much each woman loves her job and wants to make her way up the corporate ladder and remain a part of her family. Balancing careers and ambition, family and personal lives can be hard and they will all stop at nothing to fight in what they believe in. It takes a new employee to act straight away, noticing on her first day what kind of man that is runing this agency. She will not tolerate this behaviour, as many women before did and continued to do.

Danielle Steel - Pan Macmillan Invisible by Danielle Steel - Pan Macmillan

If you’re a Steel fan, you may enjoy this book. However, if you are thinking about testing the Steel waters with this outing, you probably will be better served to read any one of her other books. High Stakes was a fabulous story focusing on not only social issues in life, as well as in the job. I have been very impressed with Danielle Steel’s more recent books which are not only interesting, but willing to cover various issues. High Stakes was very well written by Danielle Steel, as she gives us a glimpse of hidden things women may face in the workplace. Very well done.

What follows is a wonderful story of five very talented woman who supported each other, especially in this ‘me too movement’. For most of the women, they all have their own issues, not necessarily the sexual harassment, but struggling with family and financially, marriages falling apart, love, respect, and threats against them.

From the outside, the powerful women embody what she desires. Jane models herself after them to find her footing. Her colleagues are strong and successful women but are each hiding secrets. Will Jane find the courage to stand up for what's right or are the stakes too high to tell the truth? California has served as Steel’s creative hub for a major part of her career where she often handles five projects simultaneously, showcasing her exceptional multitasking abilities. All her novels have been runaway successes, including those published in hardcover editions. Anchoring her stories in rich families grappling with crises, her narrative pulls viewers into worlds threatened by harsh realities such as imprisonment, fraud, coercion, and self-harm.

Summer’s End’ was an early contemporary romance novel by Danielle Steel. It was published in 1979, becoming another hallmark in Steel’s blossoming career. The book was introduced to readers by the Warner Books publishing house. Francine Rivers is the tough head of department who is in financial difficulty after a bitter divorce and is still reeling from her biggest mistake. High Stakes by Danielle Steel is one of my favorite of her books that I’ve read recently. I liked that she took on the #MeToo movement with a vengeance. These characters were realistic and I was drawn into this book from the very beginning. Compared to Hailey and Francine, drama agent Allie Moore’s life seems much more carefree and uncomplicated. She relishes her success and loves working with the talented actors they represent—until a passionate relationship with one of her rising star clients threatens to derail her career. Life handed Danielle a series of challenges and milestones. Amid balancing five marriages, motherhood, and her writing career, Danielle was determined to find her niche. Her dedication saw her write into the night, compromising sleep to bring her stories to life. She overcame personal hurdles including a fear of flying, and now comfortably divides her time between her homes in San Francisco and Paris.
