About this deal

To my ears, the bass boost on the Shanling M7 and Shanling UA3 gave the S12 Pros a subtle but welcome bass lift. I noticed the slightly subdued bass on the BTR7, but beautifully rendered treble, which required a change of tips and a bit more volume for more bass. It is worth remembering that you get the best out of the S12 Pros with more power. Blanket statements declaring that Planar magnetic sets do not pair well with tube amps is a gross generalisation.

What happens though is that the timbre is just a touch metallic and artificial while the S12 PRO is not that resolving and refined in the treble as in the mid range. Treble heads will rejoice because they'd be delighted to know that the LETSHUOER S12 Pro provides an ample amount of air and energy in the treble range. It is not excessively bright or harsh, striking a balance that allows for detailed and crisp sound reproduction. The LetShuoer S12 Pro has a nicely highlighted treble tuning that is shown with a decent sense of presence in the lower treble region, which is able to produce an efficient level of clarity and definition. The transitions from the upper midrange towards the lower treble region are relative smooth and controlled when I do listen to electro guitars or to soprano voices. All of the current gen “efficient” planar magnetic driver IEMs have a narrow soundstage, which is mostly true for the Z12. Familiar failings appear in imaging, too, as positional cues originate from either left or right, with little information in between. If you require precise imaging, efficient planar magnetic IEMs are probably not the way to go (Audeze’s iSine series of IEMs being the exception). Dynamics and speedOn the top of each monitor shell is a standard 0.78mm dia. 2-Pin female connector, which is pretty durable and that offers a tight connection with the male connectors on the detachable cable. Near the connectors is a larger pressure relieve opening that is part of the front acoustic chamber. The P1 MAX from TinHifi is another example of a budget friendly earphone with a planar magnetic driver that has an admittedly great audio performance for the price.

The midbass region of the LetShuoer S12 Pro stands out with its fast and impactful response that is able retrain a good level of clarity and resolution that was pretty audible in songs like Gogo Penguin’s “Murmuration” and “Raven” or Charly Antolini’s “Duwadjuwandadu” that do have some fairly complex passages. Instruments such like a bass guitar, drums or trumpets are repoduced with a good sese of body and musicality. Hre are no negative conditions such like a midbass hump, mudiidnes or mixxings thanks to the well adjusted Planar Magnetic driver. Whether using silicone or foam eartips, the impact on imaging and separation is minimal. However, I would prefer using silicone eartips, as the additional treble can help players more easily pinpoint the location of their enemies' footsteps. The extra detail comes at the cost of fatigue on the Z12, whereas the P1 Max can be listened to all day long. As long as you can handle the bulky shells, that is. Lastly, in "Nessun dorma!" performed by Pavarotti, the Italian's voice is out of this world. There is particularly good harmony between him and the orchestra (choristers, violins, horns, trumpets, piano, etc.). My thoughts and opinions are of my own. My experience will entirely differ from everybody else. The contents of this review should not be considered factual as this hobby heavily leans on subjectivity. YMMV.

It is extremely difficult to say how engaging the S12 Pros are to my ears. It is not simply a question of pumping loud music at you. It is the quality of the melodic presentation of music. The S12 Pros does good presentation so beautifully. Notes on all instruments sound more complete. In the S12 Pros you can dissect the music, or just relax and immerse yourself in your music, and let the music take you places. There is plenty of harmonic wealth and realism, the timbre is natural and colorful with great chromatic variety, you can hear the uniqueness of every singer's voice and single instrument.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a more lively and enjoyable sound signature, go for the silicone eartips. But if you're seeking a more natural and balanced sound signature, opt for the foam eartips. Regardless of your choice, you won't be disappointed with the tuning of this IEM. Today, I'll be offering my insights on the LETSHUOER S12 PRO, kindly provided to me by @LETSHUOER Support , Ivy Gao for review purposes. Rest assured, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own, entirely independent and unbiased. I maintain no affiliations and haven't been requested to provide any particular viewpoint in exchange for these units. Again, thank you very much for lending me this unit for review! The Letshuoer S12 Pro comes with a good bundle, reminiscent of its chi-fi origins. In the box, you get: Fits snugly and comfortably in my ear, but only after getting the proper angle to ram it in my ear. I have experienced multiple times where the ear tip will just come right-off if not inserted in a specific way. Switching genres, in "Yellow" from Coldplay's concert in Buenos Aires 2017, from minute 2 to 2:56, the electric guitar accompanies the song very gently, only to reappear seconds later. In this chaotic harmony, where instruments and the lead singer's voice come together, you can clearly distinguish each individual sound. Chris Martin's voice has a natural timbre to my ears, and both female and male voices have good weight in the region.

The overall tuning is balanced and natural with good sub-bass extension, an even mid-range and a well extended but not fatiguing treble. The LetShuoer S12 Pro is a relative easy to drive Planar Driver IEM thanks to its impedance of 16Ω and a sensitivity of approx. 102dB/mW. Sources such like USB DAC/Amplifiers (Shanling UP04 2022), Tablet’s (iPad Air 2) or ultra portable DAP’s (Hidizs AP80 Pro-X Red Copper Edition) do work just fine. OVERALL SOUND FOR THOSE IN A HURRY - VERY RICH DETAILED FULL BODIED SOUND WITH GREAT DETAILS AND DYNAMICS. Please do not be fooled by the "bright" sound signature label on the HPZ product detail section and think the sound is thin and tinny. Yes it is bright but the entire sound is very textured, juicy and dynamic (use foam tips if you are not willing to eq and want less treble). Great alternative for those wanting Timeless but not willing to spend 16k+. Even better results when applying EQ (google WAVELET for those with android devices or QUDELIX 5k dac amp). The S12 and S12 Pro are twins with minor changes that are audible in the upper midrange and treble area. The S12 Pro has a slightly warmer tonality compared to the original S12 that should be a result of the particularly tamed treble register. Please note that I have an eclectic taste in music, and in headphones and earphones, as I do not believe in having multiples of the same sound signature. The fact that they are differently tuned is not an issue for me. What I want to hear is good tuning, if it is tuned with emphasis on bass good, midrange good, highs good. There is plenty of energy here and a touch of brilliance but only as much as is needed for giving a shining and luminous character to the sound never crossing the point to harshness and stridency.
