Kirk's portrayal of his characters and how they interact throughout this book. One For The Ages is well-written and researched by J. D. Kirk. I like J. D. Kirk's description of the settings of One For The Ages, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

When I bought book one of these, little did I know what I was letting myself in for. In all honesty I’m a ‘cover snob’ and when covers look cheap I tend to think the books are either author printed, or are just the cheapest of book publishers, I did say I was a snob when it comes to books! They feature some pretty foul language… it doesn’t bother me because it add to the colour of the characters… I know some people find it unnecessary but… in this case I think it actually adds to it… thats just for me though… so if you are easily offended by swearing then I would suggest skipping these… and especially the spin off Bob Hoon novels because he is a foul mouthed mongrel at best 🤣 Granted I LOVE dark sarcastic humor, so the author has that on his side, then I also LOVE long dark drives down dimly lit pathway’s, or as most would call them, red herrings & seeing as I have a swimming pool, Olympic size no less full of little red fishies I thought we could be a good match. The Crime is brutal and confusing written with enough detail for you to understand it but not gory or thrill seeking. Each member of the team knows their toll and looks out for each other. Every single one of them, even Hoon, or maybe especially him, lord only knows, but they all fit like jigsaw puzzle pieces, without them all nothing would work properly.

As expected the team is still brilliant and I loved Sinead’s maternity replacement. A lot happens with the character development in this novel which is excellent. Hoon, in his consultant role adds spice to the story (and flowery language used). The one-liners - just masterful! But book one surprised me, I was only 1/4 of the way into it & I went and bought every single book. I think that states enough how much I enjoy them.Not necessarily, it signifies enduring significance regardless of whether it's positive or negative.
