About this deal

A 150th anniversary Fan Village will be created at Ibrox stadium for the Aberdeen, Weekend of Legends, and Celtic fixtures, with a wide range of activities planned for all the family. The Fan Village will include a number of activations, including live entertainment, a pop-up museum exhibition and football activities. To finish March in style, the Weekend of Legends, presented by Unibet, will take place on March 26 and will see the return of some our most-loved legends including Paul Gascoigne, Michael Mols and Sasa Papac. The club are excited to confirm that our teams will take to the pitch in a competitive match wearing the commemorative kit during the season, with more details to follow on this and other initiatives throughout the year.

150 YEARS OF RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB

Developed in close collaboration with Castore, for this special edition kit, our 150th anniversary ribbon which displays “1872” and “2022” has been added underneath the crest. Now, this will upset a few of the usual suspects, won’t it? That much is very predictable but that’s where any thoughts of those on the outside should stay. The Gallant Pioneers kit has been incredibly popular with supporters already this season and in anticipation of our birthday weekend, Castore will release a PRO edition of this kit which will be presented in a luxury, limited-edition gift box. Dedication to success is something that has been instilled at the club since our formative years and ‘The Moonlighters’ evening will allow supporters to take part in an evening stadium tour and view some of our earliest memorabilia and artefacts in the company of legends and club historians.IN March 2022, it will be exactly 150 years since four young boys – Moses McNeil, Peter McNeil, William McBeath and Peter Campbell – followed their dream to start a football team and begin an adventure within the new, emerging world of association football.

Special kits will also be released by Castore and here are plans for a series of commemorative events and a Rangers museum at the new Edmonton House being built beside the stadium. Rangers Commercial and Marketing Director, James Bisgrove, commented: “Rangers are thrilled to be collaborating with a local business of the repute of Douglas Laing on these six outstanding spirits. In the summer of 2020, the club launched an evolution of our brand identity and unveiled an updated ‘Ready’ crest which displayed our core ‘READY’ message in a new, modern way. ‘Ready’ has always had significant meaning in the club’s history. For the anniversary, ‘Forever Ready’ will be the message that unites everything we do as a club to celebrate 150 incredible years – and fittingly, Rangers enter this milestone year as Champions of Scotland for a World Record 55th time. Founded in 1948 but still a family-owned company to this day, Douglas Laing will produce the following six, special Rangers spirits this season to cater to all tastes. As an extra special touch, the words “Gallant Pioneers” have been embossed into the fabric to immortalise the great Bill Struth’s quote:“No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome. That has been the philosophy of the Rangers since the days of the gallant pioneers.”I believe it speaks volumes for the contribution Rangers has made to our nation in a positive sense over these years that the club is being recognised in this manner, and we look forward to promoting the good name of Rangers even further this evening to invited guests from across the political spectrum, as well as wider society.” Rangers have gone on to become one of the biggest names in world football with millions of passionate followers worldwide. Despite its global fanbase, the club’s roots in the local community remain as strong as ever. Supporters are at the heart of everything we do at Rangers, and that will be no different as we mark our 150th year. This limited-edition shirt is available now from The Rangers Stores and online and is destined to be a collector’s item for many years to come.
