I expected the variations to be about different psychological elements, but the variations were more like: women having sex with women, having sex with two women, having sex with a man and a woman, wife swapping, having sex with a family member, having sex with a man, having sex with an animal, a woman having sex with an animal. I guess that's probably the result of the Internet, 2 Girls 1 Cup makes everything before look tame. With good reason, after I told him about all I'd learnt from this book, he confessed he'd been lying. The wonderful part about the section where straight men fantasize about sex with men is that it shows two things at once--men who identify as straight and men who at the same time fantasize at times about sex with other men. The "ick" factor is high, and while I consider myself to be fairly open-minded, there are some really deviant, distasteful and downright disturbing fantasies in this book.While there are some fascinating chapters to this book, for example the parts that cover straight men who have fantasies about sex with men, and the part on bisexuality, the author's chapter on homosexuality is really "off". Well, firstly, it's a completely different type of books simply because upon reading it, I realised how different men and women think about sex. Men in Love goes beyond the socio-sexual cliché of woman seen as either madonna or whore to reveal the conflict of love and rage at the centre of men's emotions and erotic desires. One always wonders if the letters printed were selected to fit her theory, or the latter arose to describe the data.

I wish I could remember who said this, but this book also affirms one of the first things I read when I discovered radical feminism, which was "We will never fuck our way out of the patriarchy. A notice in her last book garnered about three thousand responses from American men, of which about two hundred are included in this volume. It is both angering and liberating to figure that almost everything in the super subjective world of fantasies boils down to our Oedipal fears and our very early trauma/encounters with our parents.He need no longer fear making his proposition, need not fear he may not perform well: The sexually enflamed woman in this myth is so close to orgasm right from the start that nothing is going to hold her back. If you happen to do the same just remember your partner is with you and not out there acting out those fantasies.
