About this deal

Or perhaps you simply want to use an unusual colour scheme or give your army a special name. Good thing there are all sorts of forge worlds strewn across the Imperium. The Distant Worlds rules allow you to create your own. Trace all buttons, Skitarii chest armor ridges, and all those weird little accent pieces covering the model with Brass Scopion. It’s really up to you which elements you want to have the brass highlights, but you can look at the box art for inspiration. Note that the armor panels for Tech-Priests look a bit better (in my opinion) when they are lined with Retributor Armor, whereas the armor panels for Skitarii look better lined with Brass Scorpion. But again, that’s just personal preference. Forge World Lucius employs many materials and technologies that are virtually unknown elsewhere, secrets that it jealously guards. Its weapons and wargear perform statistically better than most, a trait for which it’s justifiably proud. The vast majority of your Admech will be painted at this point. But there will probably be some random bits that need some extra TLC. For example, on all my plasma or arc weapons, I paint them with Baharroth Blue, and then trace the raised lines with Retributor Armor. We can also start to glaze the robes, this is still a technique I am working on practicing so don’t mind the imperfections! You can typically get away with not trying to reach the opaque colour that is being glazed on as most of it would get covered by the next colour anyway.

Kastelan Robots – They’re retro. They’re goofy. And while their firepower isn’t what it was in previous editions, they made up for it by become fantastic punchbots. Starting off the game with a 2+ save, you can switch their prototcol to instead give them weapon skill of 2+ and a free reroll on their charges. With a pair of Kastelan Fists, these things will punch a hole through the toughest Space Marine vehicles like they weren’t even there. With all of the prices broken down, what do you think about the value inside? Is this one of the best Start Collectings in terms of units found inside? The dark colour of their uniforms, combined with a variety of esoteric machines, allows the armies of the Stygies VIII to employ sneaky tactics most other forge worlds find distasteful. Paint the interior of the cloak with Ushabti Bone. You’ll want to thin this down and apply multiple thin coats. Also paint the very edges of the cloak with Ushabti, but take extreme care to not accidentally paint over the red cloak, as it’s a pain to correct. The Start Collecting set for Adeptus Mechanicus offers an assortment of interesting units for the faction. It comes with a formation you can use to play them right out of the box. The set contains 1 Tech Priest Dominus, 1 Squad of Skitarii Rangers, and an Onager Dunecrawler. Between these sets, you have a wide swath of choices. These options are handy for a combined codex army using both the Cult Mechanicus and the Skitarii. So if you ARE interested in an Adeptus Mechanicus army and you happen to visit your FLGS and they still have a Start Collecting! Adeptus Mechanicus box on the shelf, you might want to do yourself a favor and snag it while you can. Plus, it’s supporting your local store which is plus, too. Aesthetic– Models in this faction are utterly distinct from any other. The 60s era retro-futuristic Kastelan Robot, the wasteland cavalry Serberys Raider, the spider-tank Onager Dunecrawler: every model in this faction is positively dripping with style. You might notice a few references to Imperial Knights in the AdMech codex. Adeptus Mechanicus are in a unique spot in the Imperium, as they have special ties to Imperial Knights in the fluff, with fully half the Knight Households being devoted to the Machine God specifically rather than the Imperium in general. To represent this, AdMech can grant Knights access to Canticles of the Omnissiah, as described above. It’s all fun and games until the 12 meter war machine gains light cover or gets a free reroll of a hit, wound, and damage dice. You start by choosing from one of four Primary dogmas, each with three Secondary dogmas to refine them further. For example, you might decide to start with a Data-Hoard Forge World that safeguards arcane knowledge and exotic technology. That makes their highly advanced vehicles a bit tougher. Mostly just Gryph-Hound Orange and then lots of spot colours using Blood Angels Red and Iyanden Yellow because I was hungry and wanted McDonalds?

Do not mistake their aggressive tactics for hesitancy to unleash firepower at range. Their willingness to experiment off and on the battlefield has led to the creation of some exceptionally destructive guns, though they might not be able to replicate them. This incredible bionic arm makes flesh look extra weak. Its raw power can crush an enemy into little more than a gory pulp. Using the same technique, whiten over the dark blue on the wing’s focusing on the area’s you want to seem more transparent these photos’ were taking after some base coating over some of the metal details had started … Fortunately, getting started with Admech is pretty easy, with the one-box option of Combat Patrol: Adeptus Mechanicus. This gets you an Enginseer, 10 Skitarii, 3 Kataphrons, and a Onager Dunecrawler which will give you a good introduction to the Omnissiah. There are two previous bundles that you might see, hidden away at your friendly local game store: Start Collecting! Adeptus Mechanicus and Start Collecting! Skitarii. These are both out of print now, but you can occasionally find them at MSRP which makes them a great deal. Painter’s Dream– These models are intricate, they’re detailed. Each and every one offers endless opportunities for personalization and kitbashing. If you are looking for an army to really make your own, this is it. Belisarius Cawl has more character in his seventh mechanized pinky finger than most armies have in their entire roster. As well as this new leading figure for the Adeptus Mechanicus, we also have the bounding and leaping forms of the Serberys Raiders & Sulphurhounds. They can be armed with an array of different weapons and some of them even ride into battle atop fire-breathing mounts which make things all the more terrifying! The metals are just Leadbelcher washed Nuln Oil and then highlighted with some Ironbreaker. The edges of Cawl’s armour and the brassy areas on the Enginseer are done with Runelord Brass – mixing up the metal tones on Ad Mech is helpful for keeping them visually fresh, especially with single-colour robes. Similar applies to the cables – Cawl has a lot of blue and purple, which contrast nicely with the orange robes, and the Enginseer has even more of a mix with green and yellow in there as well. The Adeptus Mechanicus, sometimes referred to as the Cult Mechanicum (for historical reasons) or commonly just AdMech for brevity’s sake, is the technological hub of the Imperium of Man. They produce the weapons, manufacture the equipment, and forge the great warmachine that is mankind in the 41st millennium.

Available originally in the Kill Team Theta-7 Acquisitus box, the Tech-Priest Manipulus is now available on his own. They have been heavily modified, as with the rest of their kin, and now simply float across the battlefield, directing the action unfolding before them. Every forge world has its own dogma to represent the overall demeanour, a unique Stratagem, a Warlord Trait, and access to special Relics, called Arcana Mechanicum. Let’s break down a few of the differences that make the forge worlds distinct from each other. Even lighter drybrush Wild Rider Red. Only hit the edges, corners, and areas that would be getting direct sunlight. Go lighter with this than with Evil Sunz Scarlet. In terms of units, as mentioned, there is a lot of overlap. Thankfully, it’s overlap for “core” units in the sense that you’ll probably need more than one unit of Skitarii Rangers/Vanguard in your lists. And having 2 Techpriests isn’t unrealistic either. I’m not too sure how much use you’ll get out of the Skorpius Dunerider (as Transports seem to have fallen out of favor) but you can built it as a Skorpius Disintegrator instead – so that’s a plus.Their sheer inhumanity also grants them a modicum of protection against the forces of the warp – a good thing, as the Adeptus Mechanicus doesn’t regularly employ psykers of their own. The Outriders give you speed, and the Bladeguard Veterans give you a real punch in combat. Support their assault by charging your Assault Intercessors at the same time, and give everything buffs from the aura abilities of your Primaris Lieutenant and Bladeguard Ancient.

Adeptus Mechanicus Example Army (ignore the invalid double-special weapons on the Skitarii). Credit: PendulinAs the founding forge world and the religious centre of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the armies of Mars believe themselves to be the best of the best. These forces are always trying to prove their supremacy in battle – driven by rigorous training and ready access to the copious resources of the Red Planet.
