There were tragic moments, and shout out moments that just took my breath away. You get all that and so much more in a Julia Wolf book. This was a fantastically written book with brilliant dialogue that I just adored and laughed out loud on more that a few occasions. I really loved this book and can't recommend it highly enough. So so good!! Theo was the perfect counter part for Helen. While they had their own bumps and some miscommunication when he realizes how much she means to him, nothing can make him give her up. Especially if it’s Helen asking him to walk away. Today was no different. My father, the exalted president of Savage University, was now my pimp. That he was trying to force me on my ex-girlfriend made no difference. He wanted Abby’s father to make a donation to the university’s art program, so the Fitzgerald family had been invited to the art and design school’s annual fundraiser banquet. Daddy Fitzgerald accepted, the caveat being me acting as Abby’s date.

I love fell in love with Hells (aka Helen) when she first showed up in Start a Fire and I have been wanting her story more and more after each book. Helen has been dealt a very hard hand in like dad in jail useless alcoholic, drug addicted mother and Helen is left to support the family only to make sure her baby sis is safe.Helen and Theo were just an amazing couple that just were so emotional without being that. They bought up so much, it got challenging to read at times, but it was too good. He slammed his hand down on his desk, then immediately smoothed out the scattered papers. “Toe the line, Theo! I take care of your tuition. Every one of your teachers is aware of who your father is. If Marino gave you a D, then know this, you earned an F. He was being generous with that D because of who you are. I don’t even want to think of what kind of drivel you must have turned in to get a goddamn D, but it’s unacceptable.” This story revolves around feisty Helen, and Theo, who seems like a handsome, rich guy who has the world at his feet. Theo is drawn to Helen the first time he sees her, and while they have immediate chemistry, she doesn’t think much of him based on the company he keeps. He loves the banter and getting Helen riled up, he wants to protect her and see more of the side not many have ever seen before. Soft like thunder is a new series connected to the savage crew series with a few familiar faces popping in.

It not only links the past high school characters for fan favorites, like me, but is a total standalone introducing new characters and a new world to fall in love with. Julia’s writing just continues to get better and better and this book is proof of that. I laughed, cried, cursed, and smiled and as every reader knows – these are signs of a great book. I also must give an honourable mention the steamy scenes – the HEAT! Wowzah! These Savage guys sure know what they are doing.Theo is so beautifully broken in his own way. He seems like the perfect, beautiful rich boy, but there are deep, deep layers to his facade. Just like Helen wears her sharp, pointy layers as armor, Theo wears his twinkly eyes and sweet smile to hide things too. He’s under his father’s thumb, recently out from a long term relationship and trying to figure out his life after wrestling. Theo is going through the motions of school and a beautiful Tiger named Helen just might lead him on the right path, or she might lead him down the wrong one. Their journey to their HEA is heartbreaking, emotional and filled with so much angst that I couldn’t put the book down. As more characters were introduced and brought in, I had so many questions and needed to see where it was going. My father clasped his hands on his desk, his fingers turning white from pressure. “Be that as it may, Abby wants you to be there with her, and since I’m unaware of any valid reason that can’t happen, it will.”

Loved Elena too and I’m excited for her book which I have an annotated copy of it done by The Book Refuge who I love.
