I had the first iteration of this light, along with Dewalt's 20v work light and Kobalt's 24v work light. I gave the Makita and Dewalt away and kept the Kobalt 24v. That was probably 4 years ago now. The Kobalt is still the best version of this light by a long margin. I think Ridgid might have just came out with a pretty comparable light, but I don't have those batteries, so I don't intend to test it out. Light quality is soft and diffuse due to the layer of semi-transparent diffusion plastic. The light quality is quite nice, although it does not appear to be daylight balanced. I raised a complaint with Makita, regarding their extended warranty which excluded work lights in the UK , but everywere else makita offer it. The flashlight has 3 distinct levels available — 500 lumens in high mode, 250 lumens in medium mode or 100 lumens in low mode.
