About this deal

X100V’s timeless body has top and bottom plates milled from single pieces of aluminium, which results in a refined and classic camera body with clean edges. Finished with a beautiful, alumite satin coating, slight enhancements have also been made to the camera’s grip, ISO dial, and lens barrel to make it much more comfortable to hold and operate.

At the time of testing we were still waiting for Adobe to support the X100V's raw files, but the latest version of Capture One does, and also does a superb job – Phase One and Fujifilm have close ties these days. Our sample images received only slight editing, except where indicated. Video The image quality from the Fujifilm X100V is excellent, and we wouldn't expect anything else. The colors are excellent, and despite having more megapixels than most of its APS-C rivals, the X100V maintains good image quality right across the ISO range. A key feature on the new X100V is the rear touchscreen display which can now be tilted. (Image credit: Rod Lawton/Digital Camera World) Key features The renowned Fujifilm image quality runs through the Fuji X 100 V and will easily rival the quality produced by the likes of its full-frame competitors. Film Simulation options provide a nostalgic film feel and give a real depth and intensity to the images. Multiple Shooting Options

FUJIFILM XApp” is the advanced application software for the current one, “FUJIFILM Camera Remote”, with which wireless communication becomes more stable and faster so that images and movies transportation from the camera becomes more smooth and comfortable with the smartphone and tablet terminal. The FujifilmX100V's offers the ability to record 4K video up to 30 frames per second or capture 120 frames per second at 1080p to create super slow-motion effects. Filmmakers needing extreme colour fidelity can record 10-bit, 4:2:2 colour externally via the HDMI port and leverage Fujifilm’s advanced colour reproduction technology, to apply Film Simulations, like ETERNA, to their video footage. Additionally, image makers can also incorporate numerous shooting functions, such as “monochromatic Colour” and “Colour Chrome Effect” to extend their creative visions directly to the footage being recorded. Why We Love the Fujifilm X100V The lens is super-slim but still has room for a manual aperture ring – or you can turn it to the 'A' setting and let the camera set the lens aperture automatically. (Image credit: Rod Lawton/Digital Camera World) The fifth iteration in Fujifilm’s X100 Series, the X100V is a significant upgrade over previous models and features a 23mm F2 lens, improvements to its Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder, weather resistance, and a tilting rear LCD monitor among a host of other updates. The fifth iteration in Fujifilm’s X100 Series, the X100V is a significant upgrade over previous models and features a newly designed 23mmF2 lens, improvements to its Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder, weather resistance, and a new tilting rear LCD monitor among a host of other updates. Using the latest generation X-Trans TM CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4, the X100V provides all creatives from professionals to everyday image makers with an easy to use, fully capable, and sophisticated tool that provides incredible image quality when shooting both stills and video. A design first approach for an image first mind

Offering 95% frame coverage, the OVF provides parallax-correcting frame lines to provide an uninterrupted view of the world as it is, while the camera’s EVF delivers a real-time representation of the image as it is being made. The Electronic Range Finder (ERF) function can also be selected to display a small EVF at the bottom right corner of the OVF, which gives image-makers another tool as they frame and make their images. The ultimate travel companion, the Fuji X100V features a sharp and clear Fujinon f/2 lens with a fixed focal length of 23mm. The lens leads the camera to be a perfect pairing for the landscape or street photographer. The latest model now comes with 4K movies at 30fps, has a built-in 4 stop ND filter and can produce 420 shots from one charge. Optical and Electronic Viewfinder This isn’t a travel all-rounder or point-and-shoot king, because the X100V’s fixed focal length and emphasis on manual shooting make it much more niche than that. Instead, it’s the ideal walkaround camera for keen photographers who see that 23mm f/2 lens as liberating rather than a frustrating limitation. The lens has an identical focal length and aperture to the X100F, but Fujifilm says the one on this camera has two aspherical elements (rather than one). In theory, this helps improve resolution and reduce distortion.

The X100V has a revised ISO dial which now stays up when you pull it and makes ISO adjustments much easier than with the old spring-loaded dial. (Image credit: Rod Lawton/Digital Camera World) Build and handling There are a few annoyances for video shooters. First, there's just a single UHS-I card slot, and changing both the memory card and the battery means you have to unmount the camera from any tripod or gimbal plate. This is a factor because this camera has neither in-body nor in-lens stabilization, making a tripod or gimbal a pretty important accessory.

The X100V, though, is one of those cameras where it doesn’t really make sense to separate image quality from the shooting experience as a whole. That’s because the shots you take are informed as much by its fixed focal length as they are the sensor quality and processing. If you haven’t bought an X100 series camera before, it’s important to make sure you’re happy with shooting for extended periods with only a 23mm focal length – we love the creativity it inspires, but at times it can feel neither wide enough nor tight enough for certain scenes. Use the wide conversion lens (WCL-X100 II) or tele-conversion lens (TCL-X100 II) to extend X100V’s fixed 23mm focal length to a 28mm equivalent (0.8x) or 50mm (1.4x) equivalent lens on a 35mm format system. You can also add agenuine-leather case (LC-X100V) to the X100V to complement its classic design while giving complete access to the camera’s battery and memory card whilst in place. When the firmware is upgraded from ver.1.00, “HIGH” mode in the POWER MANAGEMENT” menu is selected which is the same function as the current one. We would recommend use of the “STANDARD” mode when the X100V is used hand-held in a continuous manner (such as with continuous video shooting) and so on.

Why We Love the Fujifilm X100V

The Q button the X100V is surprisingly small, and located on the far right side of the body where your thumb rests. It’s not that easy to find by touch, but it’s likely you’ll soon get used to its position. You also have to hunt around to find the focus mode switch, which is in an unusual position on the left side of the body. But without any video stabilization in either the lens or body, this is not a walkaround vlogging camera – which means you’ll need to use either a gimbal or a tripod to get footage that lets its quality shine. The X100V looks just as good in the hand as it does in pictures– it’s expensive, but feels very premium. In fact, it has few rivals in the looks department, aside from minimalist rangefinders like the Leica Monochrom M.
