About this deal

It's also worth remembering that having multiple accessories can be more of a hindrance than a help, especially when storing them, which is another reason not to splash out on a model with expensive extras unless you're sure you need them. Robot Vacuums – Dyson robot vacuums have the most powerful suction of any robot vacuum. It includes the patented Dyson cyclone technology, the Dyson digital motor and the 360 degree vision system. Heating – the Dyson Hot+Cool fan features a fast even room heating and powerful personal heating as well as the jet focus control. I bought this model in 2017 for our master bedroom. I wanted a quality fan that could heat and not run up the electric bill. After researching, I chose to spend a bit of extra money on the Dyson AM09. You want to get hot, or stay cool? As a two-in one device, the AM09 has you covered whether it’s the deepest darkest nights of winter, or a sweltering summer’s day. As a fan heater, it can pump out either fast blasts of cooling air, or warm cosy waves.

The 3-metre power cord shouldn’t cause you an problems when it comes to plug placement, either – I found this afforded enough freedom to place the fan in any discreet but efficient location. Other Things to Consider Based on historical pricing data, we think these prices represent genuinely good savings on some of Dyson's most popular cordless models: Cord-Free Vacuums – these vacuums are balanced to provide you with easy handling of floor to ceiling cord-free cleaning.

Despite playing host to a flurry of new features, the AM09 looks virtually identical to its predecessor – I think it looks like an oversized needle with the pointy end removed. Like previous Dyson air multipliers, the latest AM09 oozes style and high-end appeal. It’s easy on the eye, well-constructed, so the fact it looks the same isn’t a problem. It’s not just about performance though, as V8 models are more expensive – and the V6 isn’t cheap in the first place! For this reason, choose the V6 if you want a vacuum for daily cleaning and would prefer a lower price rather than a longer run-time. If you want to use a cordless vacuum for cleaning an entire home, however, then the V8’s 40-minute run-time is the better choice. For the budget-minded, there are other space heaters that heat equally as well as the Dyson and won’t bust your budget. Important Update: Look to other retailers

It’s a great, stylish fan and heater that’s perfect for upmarket living rooms, home offices or anywhere that needs what the Dyson offers. The Jet Focus feature works very well, and is something no rival can offer at present. Like on the company’s past air multipliers, a brushless motor and bladeless design combine to ensure airflow is not buffeted. This might not sound like a major advantage, but you won’t want to revert to a choppy, bladed fan once you’ve tried it. It’s an expensive option, but one which gives a luxury performance. As with Dyson’s other bladeless fans, hiding the motor in the base means there are no moving parts for children or pets to get hurt on, so you can leave it within reach and not have to worry about trapped fingers. The heating elements are placed inside the inner aperture as well, meaning the outside of the fan stays cool to the touch, but Dyson still suggests not touching it while in use and keeping it out of the reach of children. Perhaps more impressively is how the AM09 manages to achieve this while being significantly quieter than the outgoing AM05. The improved motor is barely audible on the lowest heat setting, and only slightly louder on the lowest fan levels. We could comfortably get to sleep with the fan on a medium setting, and it didn’t prove distracting when watching TV or having a conversation during the daytime either. It’s a welcome improvment over the old model and a major selling point for anyone with a loud, traditional fan heater. You would expect the prices of older vacuums to go down rather than up, but we've found that some Dysons end up being sold for a price that well exceeds the original amount – even several years after they were launched.

An Alternative - the AM05

Today, Dyson has over 1,000 engineers and about 70,000 employees all over the world from Malmesbury to Malaysia and Chicago to Singapore. The company has also recently invested in a purpose-built motors facility in Singapore where its main purpose is to precision-manufacture each Dyson digital motor, which is the key technology at the heart of the newest Dyson machines. The rest of the cylindrical shape is is taken up by the tilting, optionally-automatically-rotating base, which includes the air vents, a single power button and a small LED display which lets you know which mode, speed and temperature the fan is set to. We love that the cooling and heating buttons allow us to switch between fan mode and heating mode with the touch of a finger.

As well as being far easier on the eye, the AM09 is considerably safer than some alternatives. It won’t scold the wayward hands of any inquisitive child like a an electric bar heater would, for example. After 30 minutes pumping out at full heat, the AM09’s body was comfortable to touch – you could move it easily without discomfort. There are some brilliant Dyson vacuums out there, but we've also found worthy alternatives from other brands, including much cheaper options. Handheld Vacuums – these are powerful vacuums but light as well cord-free to clean anywhere from the home to the car. Jet Focus Control certainly worked during our testing, as we could feel a steady flow of air from several feet away – even with the airflow speed set to a low level. Diffused mode works best when heating a room, taking just a few minutes to increase the temperature of a medium-sized bedroom by three degrees above ambient. Not surprisingly, the AM09 also earns accolades for its functional design as well. The remote on the Dyson AM09 is conveniently designed, with buttons that are intuitive and easy to press. We love that the cooling and heating buttons allow us to switch between fan mode and heating mode with the touch of a finger. We also appreciate the magnet that holds the remote on the top of the unit. Once you get in the habit of storing it there, it holds securely and will stay there indefinitely.Dyson Supersonic – this hair dryer has an intelligent heat control for shine. It also features the Dyson digital motor which spins on average 6 times faster than other hair dryer motors at one inaudible frequency – yet is a third of the weight. Dyson launched its latest hot + cool bladeless air heater, the AM09, in Japan and the US late last year as a replacement to the AM05, but British customers can finally get the improved model, which promises Jet Focus Control for more powerful, more direct airflow and a motor that’s up to 75% quieter than the outgoing model. We’ve been putting one through its paces to see if it has what it takes to keep you cool in the summer yet nicely snug in the winter. The AM09 isn’t oppressively loud, either. A new aerodynamic diffuser helps cut down on fan noise – it’s considerably quieter than its predecessor. The room filling mode is the noisier of the two modes, but not by much. The fan and heater are controlled by a remote that magnetically attaches to the top of the unit. The remote was useful for changing the setting of the fan without moving from our seats, but it is the only way to control several features of the fan, so make sure you don’t lose it. Oscillation is one of the remote-controlled features and one of our favorites. The fan moves quietly along a wide arc, delivering a blast of warm air across the length of a room. It also tilts up and down so you can direct the airflow right where you need it.

Refurbished handheld and cordless vacuums, fans, heaters and humidifiers are guaranteed for one year. In terms of performance, the V8 is clearly the superior vacuum. The longer battery life and improved bin design make it better suited to thorough cleaning. It has a slightly lower suction power on normal mode, but the V8 engine is more powerful on max mode. V8 models also come with Dyson’s best floor heads for more effective carpet and hard floor cleaning. The AM09 looks almost identical to the outgoing AM05, with a tall, oblong-shaped aperture and a chunky base which hides its brushless motor. Dyson has removed almost all of the buttons from the front, replacing them with a single power button and white LCD display showing airflow speed and desired temperature. Without the bundled remote, you’ll only be able to turn the fan on and off, and cycle through target temperatures by holding in the single button on the front of the unit. There’s no option to turn the power and temperature LEDs off, which could be a little irritating if the fan is directly in your line of sight when trying to get to sleep. There is at least a nine hour sleep timer, so you can set it to switch off automatically before you drop off. Accessories – Dyson accessories are as sturdy as their vacuums when it comes to removing dust, dirt and allergens.Humidifiers – Dyson humidifiers are scientifically proven to hydrate dry air for a healthier environment See our shortlist of the best cordless vacuums to find one that's great value for money. 5.
