I have several friends who previously wouldn’t look twice at a game with a zombie theme but who love Dead of Winter. If someone takes a cheap artifact and leaves early, you might think you have the game in the bag if you stay and fill your pockets. In the Global Interment scheme above, once the first level is filled, all Master Keys are removed from the Market (if you’ve already bought one, you’re fine). I’ll be showing my age by noting that based on the arcade cabinets chosen, I would also be considered “vintage”. Clank In Space Captures the joyful fun of deck building synergy with the puzzle-like nature of moving around a hazardous board and collecting shiny things.

I played Dune Imperium before I played Clank In Space, so I really shouldn’t be surprised at how well the card play intersects with the board. Look… I think all three of the expansions are great – but both Apocalypse and Cyberstation 11 add more external changes to the structure of the game. There will never be an alpha strategy you can rely on every time because the other players are always a factor. Clank in Space is a deck builder that pits you against your friends to see who can claim the most points by looting the ship and escaping alive. As with the base game, if you use them, you will get tired and not be able to use Boots any more that turn.Outlaw, Science, and Prisoner, and some cards have an added bonus if you play another card with that icon on the same turn. That said both versions are excellent and I would for sure check out which ever one of the themes interests you the most. Look, it’s just a fun game with a lot of replayability and differing mechanisms to introduce new players to the game as well as provide substantial enjoyment to seasoned players.

Not that accessing them is easy, as some are behind a lock which requires a Master Key (which obtaining further enrages Eradikus up the Rage Track) All of the artifacts are locked behind a force field, which requires placing your data cube in 2 separate data ports.So on every turn, players move throughout the ship using the movement cards, trying to obtain items to help them along the way. come home and lead your friends and/or family on a deckbuilding adventure they’ll want to play time and again! It keeps the tension really high as you play and even scores you at the end of each game based on how well you did.

The table talk is decent but more often than not you do end up kinda in your own world managing your deck and what you are playing. Your Mission has 3 parts: Hack the spaceships command gaining entry to the command module, steal an artefact token from the command module and then escape, finally, to accumulate enough points to beat fellow thieves. But you always want movement, no matter what, and so how you move through the map really felt like a tactical choice that is separate from the strategic deck building. Like trying to sneak into this spaceship while being followed around by a robot singer playing at full blast, or when you are noisy, seeing only other player’s cubes being drawn from the bag.The rulebook says that you should only play with one expansion as otherwise the cards from each expansion will be diluted. The trick with Cyberware, though, is that if you spend a power crystal when you play the card, you can install it! You and your fellow thieves have challenged each other to sneak around his ship and steal his most precious artefacts! The artwork on the board and the cards is fantastic and the theme is just as awesome here in the space version as it was in the fantasy version of the original Clank! You could build your deck to be thin and efficient so you can be the fastest player in and out of the ship. I have to say that Apocalypse is a great expansion to Clank in Space, but there is a missed opportunity here. If a new adventure row card has the attack icon, cubes get pulled from the bag according to the rage track. Each of these has benefit (Swords, Boots and treasure points for the end game), so they certainly have a use.

The second level will allow players to trash a faction card from their hand for 5 credits (which could be good! For those familiar with the original it takes a little longer than that version, which is to say about an hour and a half generally. You'd better hope your friends are louder than you are if you want to make it to an escape pod and get out alive.
