About this deal

There’s something about pen pals falling for each other that always makes a good story. If you enjoy these mysterious types of novels, you should read P.S. I Like You by Kasie West.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

The world isn’t always what’s right in front of you, you know? It’s below, it’s above, it’s out there somewhere. Every burn of every light inside every house I see when I look down from the rooftop has a story. Sometimes we just need to change our perspective.

I will say that the twist at the end with Misha's mom took me off-guard. I wasn't expecting that, although in hindsight it explains a lot. Like I said before, with CORRUPT, plotting isn't a weakness of Ms. Douglas's. But the confrontation and the way it was carried out left a similarly bad taste in my mouth, because it was a perfect mirror of his behavior towards Ryen and how it was actually pretty abusive. Misha is one of those guys who expects women to behave in certain ways, and if they violate that way at all, they are automatically bad. Ryen failed to live up to his sweet nerdy girl fantasy, so she becomes the whore in his eyes. Misha's mom couldn't take motherhood, so she becomes the horrible bitch who is responsible for all the problems in his life. It's the Madonna/whore complex, and I hate the Madonna/whore complex. Also, I'm realizing that I kind of hate Misha. I didn't want him to have an HEA with the heroine, because in my opinion, he never redeemed himself. He played the "Baby, I'm damaged" card and she completely bought it, final sale.Ruby thinks this will be a great way to brighten a soldier’s week. What she didn’t expect was for the soldier to be the one to brighten up her spirits. These characters are known to go over the top with the roles they take on for their plays, often having their fictional life cross lines into real life. Everything changes when one of them is found dead. In fifth grade, my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student, Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed.

I don’t think I'm really that much of a romantic person but I do know one thing for sure. When they created the word "romantic" As the story progresses, Ryen learns more about Masen’s past, particularly about his sister, Annie. This revelation adds depth to their relationship, as Ryen realizes the weight of the secrets Masen has been carrying. And an attempt at more patience and understanding for my future heroines might result in my enjoying even MORE books.

Ryen, on the other hand, would talk about the problems she had at school, how she wanted to be the most popular and beloved girl in her class, to be cheered on, and to be loved. As it turns out, Misha couldn’t hold up any longer without seeing Ryen and he took a leap of faith and went to see who his muse truly was. Growing up, she always looked forward to this summer house because she had a crush on Conrad. This summer, feelings start to develop between her and Jerimiah as well. Hardin knows he’s wrong for a sweet girl like Tessa, but he can’t resist her. To make things even more complicated, Tessa already has a boyfriend who truly cares for her. Misha and Ryen are proof that you can’t help who you fall in love with. If your fascinated by romances that feature unlikely pairings, then you should read The Best Laid Plans by Cameron Lund.
