Each round, players on the active team must name as many correct answers on the question sheet as they can in 60 seconds. I tested N on some of the questions afterwards, and he enjoyed it, so I bought the family version of the game for him for his birthday. The speed/action is the best thing about Tension so it is more exciting competing against three players rather than one or two. Adding in house rules like this keeps the game refreshing and allows smaller groups of players to tackle the game and have just as much fun.

A player cannot touch a disc before the Spin-O-Matic stops and a player cannot hold more than one disc in their hand at a time. The kids in the front look extremely nervous like playing the correct disc is a life or death proposition.

Like a lot of these type of games where all of the players rush to do something at the same time, really aggressive players can ruin the game. Being a pure speed game, Tension is a game that some people are going to be great at while others are going to be terrible. You only get 1 minute to give as many answers as you can on a subject, therefore the questions are not the most difficult. I would probably only recommend picking it up if you can find it for cheap though because there are better speed games out there.

If you don’t like speed games you most likely won’t enjoy playing Tension as it doesn’t bring anything new to the genre. cards are included with the base game and each one is double sided resulting in 400 challenging topics for players to wrap their heads around.Covering topics like foods, brands, clothing, inventors, films and sports, there’s a great breadth of topic to ponder over. Tension tries to turn the classic game of musical chairs into a board game but ends up creating a generic speed game that is past its prime. I am not a huge fan of the three player game because there is no way to make the gameboard fair for all of the players. Players will race to play one of their discs of the color spun onto one of the corresponding colored spaces on the gameboard.
