About this deal

His kiss is a revival. It’s full of life, relieving me of all the chaos and noise spiraling around my mind, crippling me for far too long. It all just stops when he touches me, settling into perfect serenity. Then, one day, she loses her phone at the gym and she thinks he’s the one who stole it, bc hello they’re trying to annoy each other. AND THEN IT LEADS TO A HOT MAKEOUT. 😋 it does make for one awkward run-in with their family members when they “officially” meet for the first time 😉 Expression frosty, he arches a strong brow, regarding me with contempt, as gym bros tend to do when women dare to touch what they deem as their equipment. "Didn't see your stuff."

That's why I'm equal parts horrified and appalled that my Tinder rebound, Joe, has sprung onto the treadmill to my right. Amy Lea is the international bestselling author of romantic comedies for adults and teens, including Set on You, Exes and O’s, and Mindy Kaling’s Book Studio selection Woke Up Like This. Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. Set on You is the best kind of workout: one that ups your heart rate with its swoony hero, makes you sweat with its slow-burn tension, and leaves you satisfied with its themes of empowerment and self-acceptance. With a fresh, hilarious voice and a deeply relatable protagonist, this romantic comedy is enemies-to-lovers gold.”—Rachel Lynn Solomon, national bestselling author of The Ex TalkI liked the approach, although this book has some mixtures of those self-help books, but not in excess.

Synopsis: A gym nemesis pushes a fitness influencer to the max in Amy Lea’s steamy debut romantic comedy. Scott is a fire fighter (which is an instant swoon from me) with a grumpy exterior but is really gentle underneath it. I’ve seen a few comments that this book is insta-love, but I would disagree. I think there is a lot of lust at the beginning (the chemistry between them is SO HIGH) as is often the case with enemies to lovers, but we then see that lust change over time to love. I really believed in their romance, and them as a couple. The spice was on point, but the fact there was no scene with the fire pole?? Missed opportunity. This coincidence does stand in the way of Crystal’s plan to never see him again, but, now, it looks like they’re going to be spending plenty of time together… 😏💃🏻

honestly, the humour of all of the characters was stellar. within the first 10% of this, id laughed out loud a handful of times. the banter between Crustal and Scott was top-tier. it was so natural and easy-going, i was giggling right along with them. while the side characters were just as funny and endearing— and i did some digging, praying Tara was gonna have a romance and it be with Trevor (even tho they have never interacted lmao) Exes and O’s release right now please!!

the body politics of this book were amazing. oh my god. im usually really wary of romances that have a theme of fitness/weight/gym life, etc bcos the portrayals can be problematic and send the wrong kind of message. i felt like Amy Lea handled the delicate topic with tact and care. it was greatly approached and im glad that it wasn’t the driving force of the book, but it worked alongside the romance and Crystal’s individual journey. Curvy fitness influencer Crystal Chen built her career shattering gym stereotypes. After a recent break-up, she has little time left for men, instead finding joy in the gym - her place of power and positivity. I honestly loved these characters and their family (yes, family singular, their grandparents get married in what is a very normal and not at all uncomfortable and insane thing, apparently), and the body positivity plot, but I didn't care about the actual reason we all found ourselves gathered here like at all. As a gym regular, I exchange respectful nods with the other patrons as I enter. A familiar crowd of 'roid-pumping frat boys loiters near the bench presses while simultaneously chugging whey protein shakes like they're on the brink of dehydration. Today, they're donning those cringey neon tank tops that hang too low under their armpits. To their credit, they're nothing if not devoted to their daily routines. And after catching a glimpse of my sweaty, tomato-faced self in the wall-to-wall mirror under harsh fluorescent lighting, I'm not in any position to judge.

Set on You is the lighthearted, sweet, and sexy book you’ve been waiting for. Lea’s delightful debut is a funny and poignant look into the power and perils of social media and the strength required to be vulnerable. Set On You beautifully captures the free-falling elation of realizing the person you can’t stand is the person you can’t stand to be without and the chemistry between Scott and Crystal sizzles. The gym has never seemed such a sexy and romantic place as in this book!” —Denise Williams, author of How to Fail at Flirting Prepare yourselves, because this is going to sound familiar. I wish I knew anything about exercise, so that I could make a comparison that would be on theme. But then again, I don't really, because to know about exercise implies doing it, and that sounds horrible. Romance is sexy, hot, and slow burn. Enemies to lovers trope, banter, and many sexy and tender moments make the chemistry sparkling. I like how they took things slow, got to know each other more, making sure Scott’s recent breakup is really over and their feelings for each other isn’t just a heat of passion. Crystal’s platform testing their relationship is another interesting aspect that made it more realistic. He sidesteps. For a second, I think he's leaving. I'm about to thank him for his grace and humanity . . . until he dares to load one side of the barbell with a forty-five-pound plate, biceps straining against the fabric of his T-shirt.

He looks like Chris Evans. My boyfriend looks like Henry Golding. That guy looks like Dev Patel. Don't you think he looks like Liam Hemsworth." Crystal was the best part of this book. She was truly funny and witty and felt like someone I wanted to be best friends with. I loved her!By the time Crystal and Scott become friends and decide to wait for the right time to be together (for Romance Reasons), I completely lost interest. I just needed a little fire and I wasn’t getting any. She hopes she can rekindle something in the past that will be worth chasing, especially after her recent engagement ends. In the meantime, there’s an issue with her roommate, Trevor Metcalfe. Trevor believes in loving them and leaving them mentality and doesn’t support the idea of Tara being friendly with his one-time lovers. All of these possibilities lose legitimacy when he conspires to out-pedal me on the neighboring assault bike. When I catch him eyeing my screen, I channel my inner Charlie's Angel and full-throttle it.
