About this deal

The pixels have been “over-provisioned” on this screen, so while the image shifts a bit by a few pixels, you never lose any of the actual image off the edges.

Games like Hogwarts Legacy and Atomic Heart looked gorgeous, with superb control over bright and dark gradients, while bringing out details, effects and RT reflections with great accuracy. The UltraGear OLED gaming monitor, model 45GR95QE, is the brand's first OLED display featuring a 240Hz refresh rate. Gigabyte, LG, and Samsung have all released interesting monitor options that gamers are bound to like the look of -- especially if you're interested in innovation above all else. There are also image and pixel cleaning features which can be executed if you find any sort of image retention - however, the screen performs regular cleaning on its own when the display is left turned off for long periods of time.If you’re looking for something like that, you may want to have a look at our recent review of BenQ’s Screenbar Halo monitor accessory. This also means that there is no ghosting or blurring of any kind, and neither will there be any blooming in dark scenes which plagues most LCD panels. But we should think about the full context here and the alternative for a moment… Is matte or glossy better for OLED monitors? OLED panels aren't known for their brightness compared to other panel types, but this is low for an OLED, where the average sits around 250-300 nits. I left it off because I would much rather play with good color on a darker screen than be too bright and blown out.

However, these are minor complaints, and we still recommend it as the must-have gaming monitor this year. Display’s latest generation “META” OLED technology, including MLA (Micro Lens Array), which you can read a lot more about here if you’re interested. Among all correct predictions, we give away 5 x LG UltraGear™ 27GR95QE and 160 x Ocean Song Ashe Skin + Champion Bundles.Given the obvious benefits of OLED displays, such as superb motion handling and excellent HDR capabilities thanks to an infinite contrast ratio, you could be forgiven for asking why there aren’t more. The Witcher’s latest candlelit season looks mighty fine on this monitor in downscaled 4K, even if it’s a slightly better experience in native 4K on my living room OLED. There are 7 monitors using the same panel with different design, features, connectivity options, warranty and pricing.

Being an OLED panel, the response time is nearly instantaneous, making it one of the fastest displays for competitive gaming. But it’s still a relevant concern to bring up if you plan on using the UltraGear OLED 27 for daily use outside of gaming. You can control some very limited parts of the OSD via a single button on the bottom edge of the screen, but there’s only access to input selection, volume and brightness so that’s super-limiting. The 240Hz refresh feels like a future-proofing, especially with this new generation of Nvidia and AMD GPUs just hitting the market. For example, the Alienware 34 OLED monitor does about 250 nits, and it's by far the best OLED gaming monitor on the market at the moment. The remote itself features a multitude of buttons, including volume controls, mute on/off, input switcher, a main settings button, a 4-way dial to browse the menus, two quick settings buttons (which can be customized), and the DTS button to change the built-in virtual surround sound preset for the headphones. LG’s OSD software would also allow you to update the monitor software/firmware in the future if ever needed. We recommend changing the color temperature to ‘Manual’ and then to ‘C1’ to get the proper 6500K color temperature.
