This has a gritty and twisty plot which is so engrossing, but for me the real marvel is the characters. In a book with numerous twists and turns, we were treated to a proper ‘gasp’ moment at the end, which, although shocking, was in-keeping with what we had read about Jack. She says Lorcan has shown no interest in tracing his birth mother, but adds: “If there comes a time, I will give him every access because that is important for him and his future.
