Gi and Tom manage to write so perfectly together. If you didn’t know there were two authors then you wouldn’t be able to tell. The story just flows. The Christmasaurus is currently being developed by The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey into an animated, feature-length movie with original songs written by Tom. Eve finally has the freedom she has wanted for so long, and with Bram she has the love. But both come at a price. In this dangerous new world beyond the Tower, the regime is only ever one step behind. And, together with the desperate rebel group fighting against them, Eve has found herself in more danger than she ever could have imagined. The amount of plot twists in this book is INSANE, my mind was completely blown and I was sped reading to try and find out what else was a lie, but at the same time not wanting to finish it because the next one does not come out for over a year.

We jump right in where the first book ended. It’s full of action and is a little more grown up than book one. A bit like the later books of Harry Potter here the characters start to show who they really are and not all of them have Eve’s best interests at heart. Set in a dystopian future that has seen no girls born for 50 years . . . This promises to be one of the big books of the year. I always find it hard to review sequels, how much can I say? Will I accidentally ruin something? WHY ARE YOU HERE IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE FIRST BOOK?! Anyway, I’ll do my best.I love the characters in this book, those characters that we learnt to love in Eve of Man return. The stakes are higher, but the character development continues. I didn't think I could love these characters anymore than I already did, especially Bram and Eve but oh my god I love them so much more now. They are such complex, wonderful, strong, loveable characters and I just want more and more from them please! I won't be continuing with this series unfortunately but don't let that put you off. I have been in a reading slump and many other people enjoyed it more than me, it just didn't work for me personally. I was quite fascinated by the level of violence in this one for a young adult book. I suppose it depends on the ages reading it and I was myself a quite mature reader in my early teens but it is graphic. This is actually the angle that I enjoyed the most. We have Michael, the career soldier, his power crazed mad scientist father & the secret part of the dome. More of that was revealed this time around although we need part 3 to really see what's going on there and I get the impression it's not going to be anything nice. The narration of Michael, who Eve referred to in book one as a YOUNG man, was read by a more mature (and very proper) sounding voice that didn’t seem to fit the character. The entire narration would have benefited from being less read and more acted, particularly the voice of Eve - a girl obsessed with the real, but who speaks in a lingering voice as if her every word is poetry. The plot develops in such a complex and wonderful way. I really enjoyed seeing the authors expand on the plot that they had already built the foundations for. It has been developed so well and in a way that has definitely satisfied the questions that I had from the previous book. I will say, this isn't a spoiler, that one of the worlds in particular that we are introduced to I would have liked to know a little bit more so I could put part of the plot into a little bit more perspective. However, I suppose that is something that I am going to have to wait for in the next book as I believe it is going to be featured greatly. I did enjoy this though.

Although I had guessed the twist during the first book, I still felt excited when all was revealed. I found some parts to be so incredibly moving that my heart ached. I really love the unique concepts that are used in these books, the use of memories in this one had the psychologist in me absolutely enthralled. Overall, I found the ending so strong that it has made me super excited for the final book to be released. I cannot wait to find out what happens to all the characters and to return to this dystopian world.

The Freevers - calling for revolution - claim they'll protect her. But is she swapping one prison for another? Eve finally has the freedom she has wanted for so long, and with Bram she has the love. But both come at a price. In this dangerous new world beyond the Tower, the regime are only ever one step behind. And together with the desperate rebel group fighting against them, Eve has found herself in more danger than she ever could have imagined. The book started with a recap of the first book in the trilogy but introduced a new perspective which was a twist I wasn't expecting, but Tom and Giovanna made the third character just as personal and believable as both Bram & Eve. I struggled to get into this book at first as I found that it was quite slow and there was some descriptions/paragraphs that slowed my reading down a bit, but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. The Eve Illusion starts right where the first book finished. Eve and Bram fight for her freedom from the life she has been forced to live. But, is it possible for her to ever be truly free and is she safe from those who want her for their own gains?

I honestly did not expect the Fletchers to be so damn brutal! Don't get attached to any character too much because they are not worried about killing them off! I honestly could not believe it every time a character died, I was just waiting for the reveal that actually they're still alive. I think this is the making of a really good book though because it always keeps you on your toes and you never get comfortable in where the plot is going.

I loved the multiple POVs. In book one we had Eve and Bram, in this book we also have Michael. For the narration, each POV had a different narrator which helped to separate the differences.

The ending was unexpected but also expected, like I thought it would happen earlier in the book, but then as I was reading it I was so focused on the place they were in and what on earth was going on there that I was like oh my gosh what if this other thing happened- I was terrified. Thankfully, the second thing didn’t happen because if it did I would not know how to cope. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I was very excited when I finally got to read the next instalment.
