About this deal

Read on to find out just how easy it can be to seal a bath, whether you’re a professional or looking to save money with some DIY. This is because it is my only shower and I don't have a bath, so once started I'd like to complete the job fairly quickly. My question is what sealant (or sealants) should i use in the finished tiled shower internal corners, the bottom tiles to shower tray corner, the ceiling to tiles corners and the tiles where edges meet metal tile trims?

This means caulking the gap, it's important because it will prevent water intrusion when (not if) the trim inevitably fails again over time. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).Before attaching the head or nozzle of the silicone, cut the tip as close to a 45-degree angle as possible, this will make applying it much easier. Leave to partially cure before running a square edged float / other up the internals and sponge off the remainder making sure to clean it all off the already grouted bits. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. The tiles are fixed on Hardi-backer cement board which was sealed in the corners (before tiling) with white Sikaflex EBT and the shower tray was also sealed to the tile backer board (before tiling) with Sikaflex creating an upstand as recommended in other helpful Build Hub posts.

As you follow these steps, you should find sealing and resealing your bath a straightforward job that isn’t too time-consuming.

This is an important step because it ensures no dirt, germs or even mould can get in behind the sealant. To seal a bath with silicone sealant, which is arguably the most common method, we suggest getting everything you need ready before you begin.

Work from the back corner of your bath (the corner furthest from your bathroom door) and keep the tape at least 3mm from the wall. Note: If it is used in a low temperature place, it can be heated with a hair dryer and used after the tape softens. This will then allow you to seal the bathtub as you normally would using our step-by-step guide above.

Sealant for a bath is a simple way to freshen up a tired bathroom, especially if your current sealant is looking a little worse for wear. In this blog, we've created a careful step-by-step guide on how to apply bathroom sealant, with useful tips along the way for each valuable part of the process.
