Overall, the book is a wonderful tool that puts most old vampire stories and lore into one place, allowing for a game master to use in their game. Then, two things happened: either Chaos or Gaia created the universe as we know it, or Ouranos and Tethys gave birth to the first beings. Your eyes look like they're held open with toothpicks; your mind replays the day in a neverending loop; you feel worn down like a car tire that’s never been changed. The sequences of Paul and Tanya trying to make their way through the nightmarish streets of ruined Vancouver are gripping, and there are sudden, shocking moments of violence, but we found the knife-edge conversations between the couple even more nail-biting.At Ancient Origins, we believe that one of the most important fields of knowledge we can pursue as human beings is our beginnings. Its characters come alive in their quests to survive childhood, abuse, neglect, discrimination, and oppression and to deal with the consequences of their choices. The author spends a lot of time dehumanizing and degrading her--my favorite example of this being when she, for some unexplained reason, got it into her head that if he fucked her she would then be able to sleep. A Greek version of Nod written as Ναίν appearing in the Onomastica Vaticana possibly derives from the plural נחים‎, which relates to resting and sleeping.The long-standing human-canine alliance has been irretrievably severed, I’m sincerely sorry to report—the gnawed bones and matted chunks of hair scattered along the shores of Lost Lagoon testify to this. My reading of this was a little altered by an awareness of his death, possibly in a daft sentinel way, as I pondered how us readers will never get to sample another dose of his very fucking full-on style.
