About this deal

I found this stove comparable to larger, more fuel efficient stove models (ones also compatible with canister fuel) that I’ve previously used. Steve Parks and I happened upon the same solution simultaneously – a donut-shaped ring that the flux ring sat on, with a properly sized hole in the center to allow the full flame to pass through. Remember, the burner is tiny, so take care not to scorch the bottom of your pot by cranking the heat. The feet have enough texture/grip due to the jimping or filing that your pot shouldn't slide or move unless you are on a slope (just like any other stove/canister setup). It’s stuff like this, plus the issue of pots sliding off the pot supports, that keeps me using a Starlyte alcohol stove plus Trail Designs Caldera Cone.

With the wider pots the trick is to orient the pot so the handle is against one of the legs then it will be stable. Our testing team thinks boil times are a relevant consideration but definitely not the most important one. Start at our worldwide routes map to dig into our detailed guides with GPS maps and inspiring photography.

For those of you who intend to do some actual cooking, or some long and slow snow melting I suggest you get something with a little better quality control. If you're not happy with an item which burns pressurised petrol being low-medium quality I would maybe leave it.

While the burner head is small, the small angular shields actually do a surprisingly good job at spreading the flame so as not to create a small hot spot on the bottom of your pot.

Using the Bushbox Ultralight as a firebox stove, I don’t have to carry the weight of fuel and generally look for sticks on the ground where I am cooking. When subjected to our test fan blowing 2-4 mph, the BRS boiled one liter of water in 4 minutes 45 seconds (at 5,000 feet in elevation). Its been reported, that the BRS 3000T pot stand legs of some units will melt and bend after prolonged use. I have also not done a 15 min boil with the stove maxed out but I guess I can (I might not use my jetboil pot though). It has three rotating feet for the pot which all rotate into position once you flip the flame adjustment lever out.I’ve had it along on many sea kayaking trips and beach campouts and it’s held up very well with no signs of rust or corrosion, and no problems with clogging up.
