About this deal

Step into a new world a realm of dark romantic fantasy in which your wildest dreams, and worst nightmares, come true . Finally, I would like it to be on record that I sincerely hope Midas and his bitch of a wife, Malina, die horrible deaths soon. Ravinger is annoyed because he wanted to meet Midas in person but Midas sent an envoy instead because he’s rude as fuck. This second book surpassed its predecessor in terms of both my engagement and my enjoyment, It was an easy well-written and imaginative read and I literally raced through this at breakneck speed.

Stop letting him dull you, stop letting the whole fucking world trample you,’ he shouts, making me flinch from the vehement demand. And as if that weren’t cruel enough, our minds make sure we relive those moments again and again and again, long after they’ve passed. King Midas Is Still A Threat…King Midas in this story is actually worse than Tamlin in A Court of Thorns and Roses series, like seriously, this dude doesn’t even try to hide how awful he is at this point…I thought the story was going to go a different direction and that Midas was going to be stopped by now, but he’s still very much at large and also very much trying to take over all the kingdoms. Though keep in mind that it's really slow and the first book was really more like a prequel to set up everything. Auren goes through almost the same things Feyre goes through: seeing the world isn’t what she thought it was, new people who are almost exactly the same as those in the Inner Circle, newly discovered feelings for the novel interest, etc.

To be fair, I don’t think it’a the story’s fault, I think I just read to many books,) but because more interesting things started happening. As she begins to lose her trust in Midas, you see her begin to change and not for the better until something else happens, and she realises that her life was actually pretty good. I know they are there to drive the political plot and see what the other parties are up to, but istg I was bored to tears that I wanted to k*ll myself while reading those chapters so I'm begging Raven Kennedy no more 😭 My mind can't handle being in King Midas and Queen Malina's POV.

And Commander Rip, named for his affinity for ripping the heads off his enemies - he isn't a monster either. We learn more about Auren’s dark past in this book, through some short flashbacks, and also through discussions. A true conjuror, he has rightly joined the company of his great countryman Wolfgang Hilbig, that other bulwark of German poetry and prose. Considered Midas’ most treasured, Auren is caged within his palace and is only invited out when he wants to show her off. In her eyes Midas can do no wrong she is blind to all of his many flaws she has set him on a pedestal so it was then heartbreaking to witness the blinkers Auren has been wearing for so long finally ripped from her eyes.

Glint picks up after the events of Gild where Auren finds herself a captive of Fourth Kingdom’s army. However, the very obvious reveals throughout Glint that are related to the Fae fall flat as Kennedy has put no effort in building the lore of this world. warnings: misogynistic society, mentions of human trade and sexual assault, captivity, emotional manipulation, and psychological abuse.

This is one of those series that started off phenomenal , and only gets better with every subsequent book. Be a part of The Plated Prisoner Series the brilliant fantasy series from Raven Kennedy that everyone is talking about by being the first to own and read this beautiful set of sprayed-edged and signed hardbacks. Despite her fear as she’s a captive and knows the value she holds, Auren is surprised to find herself treated well – or as well as one can be treated when captive to a vicious warlord of an enemy of her King. Like GILD, GLINT is a dark fantasy that broaches the topic of abuse and the journey that begins once the person recognizes and acknowledges this exploitation. She felt more like her normal self in Glint, which is ironic because she spends almost all of the story as a prisoner of an enemy army. Commander Rip may not have come as a surprise to me, there's fanart of him everywhere, but he still took my breath away.
