About this deal

As far as microwave cakes go, I am so often underwhelmed with the result. But this self-saucing mug pudding is definitely an exemption. It's rich, fluffy, and moist; it even rivals the classic oven-baked version! When you are hit with a desperate need for chocolate, this Self-saucing Chocolate Pudding in a Mug recipe will give you what you want and more! You can make this gooey, chocolate-suffused treat in just 7 minutes using just a mug and a microwave! The pudding is made complete by a silky caramel toffee sauce and is often served with a side of ice-cream or cream to cut through the sweetness. It’s one of my favourite comfort foods! Brown sugar: This will give your mug pudding a caramelly sweetness and provide it with moisture too. Self-raising flour: This flour conveniently includes salt and baking powder, so you don't have to get those separately.

Sometimes it’s easy to be plain lazy right? Recently on a night in with Mummy Pond we tried out the new Pud in a Mug from Dr Oetker. Oh Bronwen! Thank you so much for letting me know and that extra little tip. Yes, of course. The measurements across the world differ slightly. I’m so glad you liked it. (You know, I’m my own worst enemy for posting these kind of recipes. Waistline? What waistline? LOL My waistline goes as soon as I mention the word pud!) So you can use it up in another recipe, or make another one the following day if you’re feeling indulgent! Sauce I was so excited about making this recipe. The first, attempt didn't work so I thought mustve read it . So I tried again . Again didn't work 🙁 nice sauce on top and dry Claggy mix underneath. What am I doing wrong? How should the mix look before doing the topping? mine looks dry! shouldn't there be eggs or fat in it? Advice needed please… M.BedirCan I use white sugar or caster sugar? Yes, you can substitute it equal to the amount of brown sugar in this recipe. Please note brown sugar makes the pudding softer and richer. The chocolate pudding is perfectly delicious on its own. But you can always amp it up with a few simple additions! Here are some suggestions: I will be the first to admit it isn’t the prettiest of puddings when it’s still in the mug, but you can definitely just pour the sauce straight over it once it’s cooled and eat it directly from the mug.

PS: I just read some of the negative comments & thought I’d add- in addition to microwaves varying in power, the cup size and flour used will alter the recipe. I added a bit more liquid to my batter and topping and zapped it in 10 sec bursts until just done. I made two at once which increased the cook time quite a bit. Thanks for a great recipe! More people in the UK choose to attend a Slimming World group each week than any other weight loss group. You can mix the batter in the mug, add the jam at the end and push it under the batter (less dishes). If you only have self-raising flour you can use that. If using s-r flour, you can add a pinch of baking powder or bicarbonate of soda for extra rise, but that's optional. These magic sponges take 10 minutes to prep and they cook in the microwave in 30 seconds flat – just enough time to plump the cushions, find the remote and make a cuppa! Make sure when you’re stirring it all together that you mix the dates at the bottom of the mug in. Continue to stir making sure there are no lumps but don’t over-mix it.

Economical and basic it may be, but a dollop of whipped cream and strawberries will make it impressively date night-worthy! Use a large mug, not a smaller tea cup. I mean you can try the smaller tea cup, but you might find half the pudding decorating your microwave. A good size mug or cup, that you might serve soup in is best. Mix flour, brown sugar, and cocoa powder in a large microwavable mug until well combined. Add in milk and oil, then stir again until smooth.I love this but sometimes the cornflour does not mix properly and I end up with small congealed jelly bits, any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening? I know what you mean, steaming pudding is a faff and if you can do it this way in a couple of minutes .....
