About this deal

Athavia said she particularly enjoyed the whiskies that were “subtle, yet complex” in the Scotch whisky flights. GOLD MEDAL WINNING GIN – in 2023, Tulchan™ Gin was awarded Gold from the prestigious San Francisco World Spirts Competition and Double Gold from the world-renowned International Spirits Competition. One of the largest categories in this year’s Luxury Masters was Scotch whisky, with Islay single malt Ardbeg scooping the top Taste Master title for its 25-year-old bottling. The whisky was selected for the highest accolade following a re-taste of all the Master medallists at the end of the competition. On the palate, this gin turns a bit on the syrupy side, with a resinous, woody sweetness that is a defining note, along with the unctuous floral sweetness of elderflower. Lots of pine and hints of darker berries are met by some orange and a steadily building bitterness–apparently the contribution of the asparagus. The alcohol perks up more here, with a steady heat in the throat. Overall, it feels like a fairly familiar profile except perhaps for the herbal bitterness, which is more pronounced than in most gins. It does help provide a certain balance with so much sweetness on the more floral side of the profile. Three Gold medals were awarded to: “elegant, creamy” Pur Sang Standard; “fresh and vibrant” Royal Mash Vintage Vodka 2020; and Titanic Distillers Premium Irish Vodka, which offered “a lovely creamy mouthfeel with delicate sweetness and cereals”. A Silver medal went to Pur Sang Select.

Initially Jaisalmer reads as a classic gin on the nose, however the pine, juniper and coriander make way for softer citrus notes, as well as grassy botanical undertones. The taste follows a similar pathway, with the added angelica root and liquorice, but this leads to the subtle but unusual exotic botanicals that make this gin so special – Vetiver and Darjeeling tea. Aker has debuted its low-alcohol English Rosé Aperitif (0.9 units per serve), celebrating English produce and in collaboration with wine producer, Chapel Down, and spirits distiller, Capreolus Distillery. We know that our clients are increasingly seeking a broader range of communication expertise, as well as international representation,” said Grant. Being distilled in Speyside, in the heart of whisky country, we are looking forward to introducing Tulchan Gin to whisky drinkers as well as gin lovers throughout the world.” Two panels of expert tasters were called upon to assess this year’s eclectic entries. Forming the first panel were: Bryan Rodriguez, wine and spirits buyer at Harvey Nichols; Anthony Callegari, Edition Hotel London bars manager; and Melita Kiely, editor of The Spirits Business, and chair of The Global Spirits Masters. One more tasting task faced the judges: deciding The Luxury Taste Master 2022. After retasting fresh samples of the Master medallists, the judges’ votes were counted and verified, and the result was that Ardbeg 25 Years Old came away as the deserving Taste Master. The Estate, in Speyside near Grantown-on-Spey on the banks of the River Spey, is surrounded by incredible views of lochs, moors and glens. The 22,000-acre Tulchan Estate is mainly a sporting ground, but it comes with fine dining, spa facilities and stunning accommodation options.

On the evening, Tulchan will be perfectly paired with a spectacular new vermouth from Verona, from Spiriti Artigiani. Gin is now definitely a global spirit, with excellent examples being made everywhere from the U.S. to Mexico to Southeast Asia, and even the UK has seen an infusion of new gin distilleries. The best thing about this is that each spirit is an attempt to capture some essence of its geography, often using locally sourced botanicals to flavor what otherwise would essentially be, well, vodka. With so many bottles to choose from, we’ve broken down some of the best gins out there to try now by highlighting stellar examples of the new and old school. Here are some of the best gin brands available now, from traditional London dry to brand-new innovations. The Tulchan Gin bottle design gets its inspiration from the River Spey, which is considered to be the finest river in Scotland. It is the fastest-flowing and second-longest river in the country, making it ideal for salmon fishing. I have taken long walks along the river, very close to the Tulchan Estate, and it is no wonder they are feeling inspired by the dark blue, yet sparkling, colour of the Spey. The promoter, venue management and DesignMyNight accept no responsibility for any personal property. The Tulchan Estate utilizes copper pot stills and chill filters its gin at 39.2°F to preserve the freshness of each botanical. A Taste of Tulchan Gin

Capreolus Distillery founder Barney Wilczak said: “AKER is such an exciting project; the creation of a vermouth that elegantly connects us to the essence of the British countryside is something so incredibly special.”

Over the last decade, the gin revolution has enriched so many taste buds on so many levels, allowing us to experience all manner of delicious botanicals and novel mixers. The only problem is that the choice out there is ever growing, and extensive, often leaving us a little confused on which to part with our hard-earned cash. Tulchan Gin was one of three Master medallists in the gin round, praised for its “lovely aroma, with citrus and lychees”. The texture was described as “mouth-coating and luxurious, with slight floral and herbaceous notes on the palate”. Tulchan Gin™ is part of the Stoli Group portfolio of spirits brands and is distributed in the UK by Indie Brands, part of Amber Beverage Group and distributed globally through the Stoli Group. Tom Jones, Ultra Premium Spirits Ambassador, will be working with trade accounts and retailers to support the launch of the brand in the UK and around the world. Tom is based in Scotland and is a regular visitor to Tulchan Estate. Fellow Master winner The Glenturret 15 Years Old offered a “lovely resinous quality” on the palate, with “warming spice, medjool dates and gingerbread”. “Super complex and balanced – very delicious,” the judges agreed. Two Gold awards were handed to The Glenturret 12 Years Old and The Glenturret 10 Years Old Peat Smoked. Seven Scotch whiskies secured the top accolade

One judge liked the “playful nature” of this whisky, which had notes of “ripe green apple, honey blossom, and a silky-smooth palate”. Now here’s an eye-catching gin. Stoli Group’s Tulchan Gin hit shelves last summer and while the gin may be London dry, the bottle is all Scotland. Made from a royal blue glass, a la Bombay Saphire, it’s stamped along the side with the official Tulchan tartan in tribute to the Speyside estate for which it’s named. The label features the Tulchan mascot, a hilarious yet very dignified Grouse Piper playing bagpipes, and the heavy wooden and metal topper sports a Scottish thistle stamp (whatever that is). As for what’s inside the bottle, Stoli Group has the deets: The best of the bunch are bestowed with a Master medal, meaning they scored above 90 points. Gold and Silver medals are also awarded. However, the gin, which is part of the Stoli Group portfolio and distributed in the UK by Indie Brands, also benefits from a bitter edge with a long finish thanks to asparagus.

Sweet up front with lots of candied citrus peels, followed by resin, cardamom, liquorice, & coriander. Vetiver is a perennial bunchgrass, cousin of lemon grass and is said to be used in 90% of top market perfumes – it has an almost crisp earthy aroma to it and compliments the Darjeeling tea flavours – delivering a well-rounded, yet unique experience that sparkles on the tastebuds.

Gin isn't just from England and the U.S. Distilleries all over the world produce versions that try to capture the character of where they're made. There are three main categories. Distilled gin is produced from a mash of grains in the same way that whiskey might be. Redistilled gin is a neutral grain spirit that has been distilled a second time. And compound gin is a neutral grain spirit that’s been infused with flavors (this is the least common style). While you can use nearly any botanical you can think of to flavor gin, juniper is the key ingredient. There are two ways to infuse the botanical flavors into gin—either by macerating them in the spirit, or suspending them in what is essentially a large tea bag above the spirit and infusing the gin with vapors. Then there are a few different styles of gin to consider. Tulchan Gin™is presented in a luxury embossed blue glass bottle with the official Tulchan estate tartan running down the side, reflecting the gin's Scottish heritage. The Grouse Piper is used to represent the proud, independent wild birds that live amongst the wild heather. Tulchan Gin is a robust, juniper forward London Dry gin elevated with the Scottish botanicals that shine through. This is absolutely within my top three gins of all time. It is sublime. In fact, I’ve had the pleasure of a guided tour around the distillery, which it has to be said, is a special place.
