About this deal

Multiple flysheet doors - Provides easy entry from either side giving protection from prevailing winds. I'm not going to add lots of detail as previous reviewers have covered all. I agree that its a good little tent, however there are design issues: Sentinel Eco® Polyester Flysheet, 3000mm HH - Highly waterproof, durable and reliable fabric, exclusive to Vango After a lot of looking this tent looked ideal for us, with a large porch area and separate inner tent from the flysheet. Thankfully, the flysheet itself has about six inches of groundsheet material sewn into its inner edges, and the main groundsheet lays above it, so rainwater runs under the groundsheet and not into the tent. I didn’t experience any such weather during my test, but it looks like a robust enough system to me.

Fully Wind and Rain Tested - Weather tested to standard EN ISO 5912 for peace of mind. This tent is suitable for use in wet weather for occasional and weekend camping. Storms and extreme weather should be avoided Waterproof PE groundsheet - robust and hardwearing fabric to stand up to the rigours of the most active campersPersonally, I think five people is really pushing it unless you want to sleep shoulder to shoulder and constantly trip over each other while getting ready for bed. Having set it up and measured the internal dimensions of the bedroom (an extremely spacious three metres in width), I would say that this tent is a perfect size for three but even better for two. This would allow for much more elbow room and loads more space to spend time inside and store individual belongings. Vango Protex® 70 denier polyester flysheet - highly waterproof, durable and reliable fabric. Exclusive to Vango

The pod doesn't fit a double and single airbed comfortably and one person will have to use the porch area of that set up used. Linked-In Groundsheet - Easy to clean groundsheet that can be attached or detached from the living area. Simply roll under the bedroom area when not requiredThis tent has long been a favourite for family, weekend and group camping and now the inner tent has been darkened further with Vango's new "Nightfall Bedroom" inner tent to reduce the amount of early morning light so that you can have a little lie in while you are enjoying your camping trip!

Fully Wind & Rain Tested - Weather tested to standard EN ISO 5912 for peace of mind. This tent is suitable for use in wet weather for occasional and weekend camping. Storms and extreme weather should be avoided My biggest concern is that, like Bongomagic, our tent leaked on its first outing in exactly the same place. I was really disappointed with this and surprised given Vango's reputation. We have had the flysheet replaced and I'm now anxious about the replacement, we'll be testing it next week (although not exactly hoping for rain!). Lights-out Inner - Helps reduce early morning light in your bedroom whilst still being breathable to ensure a good night sleepAside from some hot work installing the groundsheet and bedroom, the two of us – plus two labradors – had an excellent night’s sleep in the huge bedroom. We loved the bedroom’s Nightfall effect, too, which felt cosy while masking dawn very effectively. However, I would have preferred a little more bedroom ventilation, although I did get around this by partially opening one of the side entrances with the mozzie mesh in place.

The Beta XL range has very generous porch areas with linked in groundsheet, spacious sleeping section and outer first or all in one pitching, to keep your sleeping area protected from the rain making it ideal for family getaways or a few days camping with friends. This tent had only been used the times for a couple of nights each in nice weather. When I pitched it and it rained out did not cope with half a days rain and leaked within an hour. Patented TBS® II System - Ensures the tent performs in adverse conditions, especially in strong, changeable winds. However, it also makes it much more tiresome to pitch because you have to connect the groundsheet and the bedroom compartment to loads of hooks which is no fun if it’s scorchingly hot inside. In fact, I would recommend leaving the inner groundsheet and bedroom compartment attached to the flysheet when disassembling the tent. This will save a lot of bother when it comes time to pitch the tent again. All in all, for the price paid this is a steal. I do a lot of research when buying outdoor gear and this came out on top for cost/quality/versatility. There are tents with exactly the same design and materials with more 'prestigious' branding that sell for at least double the price of the Vango. (They will doubtless be from the same factory I suspect).Firstly positives: exceptionally easy to pitch when you know which ends is which. It's an awkward shape and if it's not put away properly you'll struggle. TBS®II - Tension Band System - Vango''s patented system which gives our tunnel tents unrivalled stability.
