It will be interesting to see how Dark Mode turns out when it’s released on 1 March in Australia and 13 April in the UK and US. To borrow award-winning Sarah Hilary’s words: ‘Crime fiction is crying out for more diversity, and in Scott Jericho we have been gifted a blisteringly new brand of hero’. Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled. I also found some parts predictable and wondered how Scott didn't see or pursue them given how he's "so talented".

This (putting up an alternative view) is a far more appropriate reaction to disagreements than ‘downvoting’ - although I appreciate that you followed up via comment. Throughout the book we teetered on whether something was believable or wholly incredulous and the end for me pushed it over into the unlikely. It’s the first time he has felt any interest in anything in months, and the link to traveller lore means he’s unable to resist learning more, especially when murder is mentioned. The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the Lord and blowing the trumpets.The many and often-conflicting facets of his personality mean he has never really felt at home anywhere.
