It isn’t clear whether there’s a reason Turkish is the language used in this idiom; any language that isn’t widely spoken in Poland would have served just fine. The saying has to do with being in a situation where you have no idea what’s happening around you or what people are talking about. Simply say, “Not my circus, not my monkeys.” What does “Not my circus, not my monkeys” mean? via Dreams Time In the end, it is up to the individual to decide what’s best for them. Not My Circus Not My Monkeys Memes

I’m not 100% clear on your comment, but I’m assuming you mean what if someone sees a problem/monkey as your monkey, rather than theirs that they are passing off? If so, only you really know if that is the case. If so, you have to become adept at explaining that whilst it might on the face of it look like yours, it is in fact not. This can be difficult if the person in question is as skilled a monkey passer as you! The literal English translation could potentially sound much ruder than it is in Polish. In its original Polish form, it’s a saying you could use to describe someone that is being less than generous with their money. A similar idiom in English might be to call someone “tight-fisted” or “stingy.” Celene is worried that her partner's attitude at work is too flip and he will miss out on a promotion. She tries to make him dress and act more "like a contender" on the job. The more she makes suggestions, the more he finds her condescending and resists the suggestions. As a HR pro. it might be a good idea to make sure people realise you are there to help yet nothing is better than making them understand a great benefits of dealing with their own monkey (and they are many). Organisational freedom fighter, tech nut and people fanatic. CEO. Investor. Adviser for start ups. Writer and speaker on the future of work, people and technology. On the one hand, this approach may help you avoid involvement in things that are not your own and you cannot control. This can help you maintain peace of mind and avoid stress.

The phrase “Not my circus, not my monkeys” describes something that is not under our control and, more importantly, something we do not want to be bothered with. Every language has its own unique idiosyncrasies that make it stand out from others, and one of the ways this is most readily apparent is with idioms. They’re often visual, sometimes comedic, and always an insight into the language. Literal translations of idioms aren’t usually sufficient in conveying their meaning, and that’s part of what makes them so much fun. People may use this phrase to express frustration when others don’t take their advice. They may also say this when their attempt to remedy someone else’s problem fails. Essentially, the phrase means “this is not my problem,” sometimes with a hint of “I told you so.” Examples

Now ‘’I was made into a horse’’ sounds hilarious, but it means that someone has made a fool out of you. On any particular day I would see a procession of individuals, all complaining about the latest poor performer and looking to me to ’ ‘sort it out’, which at times seemed a big responsibility. All generated QR codes will work forever, do not expire and have no scanning limits like you see at other commercial QR code generators. The created QR codes are static so the only limitation is that you can't edit the QR code again. This is an idiom that one could use to warn someone against causing unnecessary trouble. The literal translation actually does a fair job of illustrating a clear metaphor here because encouraging an encounter with a wolf is probably asking for trouble.

This can also help you avoid getting tangled up in another situation. For example, if someone you know gets into a fight, you might think “Not my circus, not my monkeys” to avoid getting caught up in their altercation. I don’t disagree, but I do offer a note of caution here for HR people. One of the major factors in HR losing their focus over recent years in its desire to be more strategic is the attempted move to say that everything is “line manager” responsibility. Some of those monkeys ARE yours and you need to step up and take responsibility.Thank you for this post Gareth, it recovered some of my old thoughts and gave me lovely perception.
