About this deal

WINNER OF THE SAINSBURY'S CHILDREN'S BOOK PRIZE 2021 BEST ACTIVITY BOOK Walking in the country, by the sea or in the town, so many wonderful things to see if you stop and look around!

We have had so many awesome comments about the music for our most recent CBeebies series ‘Let’s Go For A Walk’ and how it creates ‘moments of mindfulness’ within each episode. Take a walk with Ranger Hamza, who celebrates ALL that nature has to offer and how to observe and listen to the natural world around you. Kids are prompted to notice colors, shapes, textures, materials, and more as they explore their communities with encouragement from Ranger Hamza in this rhyming picture book sure to spark curiosity. There are some facts given as blurbs on the right side page such as sand is made up of fine pieces of rock or that wood for buildings comes from tree trunks. To me it’s not one that I would want to read over and over so that’s why I’m not giving it five stars.

I requested and received a free temporary ebook from Quarto Publishing Group – Ivy Kids via NetGalley. uk and we will contact you to make suitable arrangements to either refund the sale or replace the faulty goods.

Let CBeebies' Ranger Hamza take you on a guided walk with wonderful things to spot, wherever you live, with this tie-in to the hit TV show 'Let's Go For A Walk'! The book shows you how to explore your surroundings when you go for a walk in the country, by the sea, or even in your town. Detailed illustrations offer examples to follow and leave room for readers to find their own objects no matter where they live and are walking. And whether you read it at home or take it out with you, it might make you look at the world outside in a different way.

It naturally encourages getting outside and back to nature, which is proven to be beneficial and relaxing no matter your age! Ranger Hamza teaches children about a variety of nature-based topics throughout the book but it's all age-appropriate and helps serve the overall narrative.

I also love how this book encourages kids (and adults) to get out and explore and not to take our environment for granted. It doesn't matter if it is a parent or child, this book should come along to remind us of the many things there are to see, hear, smell, and feel by focusing on a few definitions each time. Covering both city and nature environments, every kid should find something familiar and something more to discover in the world around them. This book is packed with multi-sensory ideas for exploring the world around you, full of questions and tips to encourage readers to look differently at the environment they’re in and engage all of their senses. Meet Ranger Hamza, he will be leading us through this book and through all the things we can do on a walk. Not sure if I recommend taking a book along for a walk, as I am sure the parents have to carry it in the end, or maybe the book gets forgotten in all the excitement, but I am sure this would be a nice prelude to a walk.

This would be a great book to have in an Early Years setting and could be dipped into to reinforce a local area, minibeast or senses topic. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. Ranger Hamza takes three kids for a walk where they look for different things around them and just take in their surroundings with their senses. Enjoy exploration and exercise in a delightful array of settings such as garden, open air market, bakery, park, city, meadow, beach, and trails. This book is a lovely invitation to young children to step outdoors and fall in love with the outdoors.
