This pattern for the Cozy Hygge Blanket Wrap has been featured in the Design Create Repeat Blog Hop along with many other great free patterns! Head over to the Desert Blossom Crafts blog to see all 30 patterns included in this blog hop. You see, hygge is a feeling of coziness, happiness, or just any special moment. After I wrapped myself in this blanket, I literally imagined myself sitting next to a fire with a hot cup of coffee, watching my boys roast marshmallows. This collection, 30 Red Heart Hygge Yarn Crochet Patterns, features some of the most popular crochet pieces using this lovely, soft, and pretty yarn. It comes in several comforting colors and a few different styles: the original Hygge, Hygge Charm, and Hygge Fur.

Obviously I did the same with this design, because the name of the yarn is Hygge. However, I did some research on the meaning behind the word hygge and this Cozy Hygge Blanket Wrap fits the description perfection. If you haven’t already noticed, this yarn of more of a novelty yarn than a typical strand. It’s fluffy, but easy to work with. So I wanted to make the design simple, but I also wanted to create some dimension to it. Yes… frogged. It turned into this very giant ball, but I was more excited about my new idea so it didn’t crush me as much as you would think. Honestly, I am horrible at naming my patterns. I usually name them after the name of the stitch I used or the yarn… I know, how original!Row 1: Sc in same st and across those 10 overlapped sts. Sc around entire opening. Join to top of first sc with sl st. (32) The Cozy Hygge Blanket Wrap is made entirely of half double crochet stitches. Not only do I pride myself in creating simple patterns that anyone can follow, but I also didn’t want to choose a stitch that was more complicated when the yarn (not the stitch) will be the main focus of the pattern.

Row 13: Ch-2, turn, (dc, sc) in first * dc in next, sc in next * repeat across, (dc, sc) in last. (44) This scarf is long. It is wide. It is plush, and cozy, and warm. THIS SCARF HAS SLEEVES!! It is also my new favorite piece of clothing. ♥ I decided to name it the “Give Me a Hygge” scarf because of the way you pronounce the yarn: Hoo-gah. Give me a HOO-GAH! Row 1: Ch-43, sc in 2nd ch from hook. * dc in next ch, sc in next ch * repeat across, dc in last ch. (42) I hope you'll give Red Heart Hyggeyarn a try today! If you're at your local Walmart, JoAnn, or Michaels, give it a feel - I think you'll really be impressed! I can't wait to share my new pattern made with this yarn - I'll be sure to update this post with the link when it goes live! The hygge lifestyle has never been more desirable than it is now. If you are unfamiliar, "hygge" is a Danish word (pronounced hue-gah) that represents a lifestyle of cozy contentedness. It's all about enjoying the simple things in life. Who wouldn't want that?Oh and by the way, on the yarn label it says hygge is pronounced ‘hoo-gah’. When I was doing further research, I saw it was actually pronounced ‘hue-guh’. So it’s very similar, but I’m going to let you decide how you want to say it. Red Heart Hygge is a brand new yarn with the look of luxurious mohair or angora... but even softer and so much easier to care for! This month I'm taking a closer look at Red Heart Hygge in the Yarn Love yarn review (and more) on Moogly! If there’s one thing I love in the fall its chunky scarves. I love big, warm scarves because I love to feel all wrapped up and cozy. This new crochet pattern for a Scarf with Sleeves using Red Heart’s Hygge yarn is simply perfection. Row 1: Ch-37, sc in 2nd ch from hook. * dc in next ch, sc in next ch * repeat across, dc in last ch. (36) Row 17: Ch-1, turn, (sc, dc) in first * sc in next, dc in next * repeat across, (sc, dc) in last. (40)

Lay out the sleeve (one at a time) so that the fabric naturally gets wider, like a sleeve would. Measure up from the first row of the cuff until you reach 10″ high. You want the width at the “top” of the sleeve to be about 7” across. Use a stitch marker to mark the place where the pieces intersect and to keep two pieces from separating as you sew. Using your remaining yarn, sew from the cuff up those 10” on the sleeve. Flip the sleeve inside out and sew that inside flap closed as well. Weave in all ends. Do the same to the other side. Hygge Plus Size Pattern: Most people probably associate hygge with big and bulky crochet and that's definitely part of it but not all. Hygge yarn is worsted weight but many hygge-inspired patterns involve bulky yarn and large hooks ( or hands). One of the most popular yarn companies, Red Heart, certainly wanted to exemplify this idea in their popular Hygge yarn line.Row 17: Ch-1, turn, (sc, dc) in first * sc in next, dc in next * repeat across, (sc, dc) in last. (46) That is it! Isn’t this easier than it looks?! Now all we need to do is to practice wearing it! Ha! I hope you love this pattern!

Hygge Crochet Blanket, Pillow, & Home Dec Patterns

My original idea was to turn it into a longer scarf with sleeves, but I started thinking about how amazing this yarn would be as a blanket. That’s when I had the idea to turn it into a blanket scarf and as I was almost done with my original idea, after using 5 skeins of pure fluffiness, I decided I didn’t like the length… and so it was frogged. The Cozy Hygge Blanket Wrap is a fast and easy crochet pattern that you are going to love making and love wearing even more! This isn’t your traditional triangle shawl, so you can also call it a blanket scarf. Either way you’re going to want to wrap yourself up in this cozy rectangular blanket shawl the moment you’re finished making it. This modern design only uses one simple stitch because we’re letting the yarn do all of the work for us (more on that later!). Let’s get to it, shall we?
