Last Days by Adam Nevill - Pan Macmillan Last Days by Adam Nevill - Pan Macmillan

The story concerns the haunting of a residential building in London, and centers on the stories of a night watchman and a young American girl who inherits an apartment from an estranged aunt and is staying there while the estate is settled. It starts out reasonably well, but descends rapidly into nonsense. The building is haunted by a nazi painter, who apparently chummed about with 'the great beast' Crowley and learned how to open a dimensional portal to hell in his living room so that he could paint what he saw through there. Needless to say it didn't end well for him. The residents of the building got rid of him and his artwork and now his ghost is taking his revenge on them. Conoceremos a Seth, el portero vigilante del turno de noche de los apartamentos de lujo. Tiene una vida triste, vive en una habitación sin más motivación que intentar sobrevivir y estar al servicio de los habitantes de Barrington House. In reality? The Temple of the Last Days was a cult ran by a twisted psycho. Kind of like this guy . . .

You see, there are other survivors, Kyle. Not of that night, but of the organization. People who fled many years before its end. And others who escaped mere months before its dissolution. People who, one could say, have never, not ever, been able to escape what they experienced in the service ofSister Katherine. And what is unique now, is that a handful of these survivors are breaking silence for the first time since the police investigation in 1975. And when that happens, as you probably know, it's because they have something to say. Something they need to say. But have been afraid to say. And so they have provided us with an exceptional opportunity for a groundbreaking work. In my opinion, Nevill writes the scariest horror on the market today. If people are looking for an author that drives home the most fear-based horror book for book, Nevill is your guy. The only problem I had with the book that lost it a star was that the explanations were way too long. Read more

So, knowing that I had all of the previous Nevill books at my disposal, why this one? Why Apartment 16? Uhhhh... preživeo sam boravak u stanu br 16 u prestižnom ali ozloglašenom Berington hausu, sumornom i depresivnom Londonu viđenom kroz oči antijunaka ovog romana - Seta. The Temple of the Last Days. The brutal cult with a history of murder, sex and occult dealings destroyed itself during one night of ritualistic violence decades ago. Or so they thought . . . No, the other Jim Jones. You know, the guy whose followers all drank his Kool-Aid – kinda like what Shelby makes all of us loyal followers do here on GR ; )Max seemed pleased with his ignorance. It would enable him to expound. 'An organization that began right here in London, in 1967.' TIH 534: Alan Baxter on Sallow Bend, The Gulp, and… In this podcast, Alan Baxter talks about Sallow Bend, The… Kyle takes the project thinking it will be the easiest hundo thou he’s ever made – but it doesn’t take long before things start getting more than a bit sketchy. Unexplained deaths, possible apparitions, out-of-body experiences, and dog/squealing pig sounds? Y’all KNOW ain’t nothing good comes out of some squealing pig sounds . . . The man was also tanned the colour of a sweet potato and his entire scalp was covered in a semi-transparent pelt of hair implants. He never understood why balding men paid so dearly for a procedure that only gave them thinning hair. The one time he'd been to Cannes, and the two visits he'd made to LA to talk to film agents, he'd found alien worlds full of men just like Max Solomon. At the point where I read the first of many disturbing scene I gasped, stopped and had to read the paragraph over and over again. Glee! Oh I knew that it was gong to be so good!
