Although the bottle was not for myself I had chance to try it as it was opened it's pleasantly stronger and deeper in taste and mouthfeel compared to the suntory Toki more of an emphasis on barrel spice but still maintaining the floral notes. Recently underwent a billion pound expansion to be at an estimated four million litres per annum which is still a far cry from its 1980’s heyday when it was the world’s largest distillery, with 36 stills turning out around 30 million litres a year. Hakushu produce a range of styles from its 16 stills from light to heavily peated malt but the house style evokes the crisp, green nature of the distilleries location.I'm really glad I tried this whisky, and I'm pretty sure there's always going to be a bottle of this knocking around our house.
