Tell me about your new novel, In a Thousand Different Ways. What was the inspiration and how did it evolve? She does manage to live a life of her own, with the urging of her older brother, and moves away from the toxic environment that is her childhood home.

I did an author event in the Margaret Mitchell House in Atlanta, Georgia. I toured the house where she wrote Gone with the Wind. What is the best writing advice you have heard? I was immediately drawn to Alice, and I would do anything to protect her. I felt empathy for her in dealing with the gift, and I can’t imagine what it must be like not only to know everyone's feelings, but you could be affected by those feelings too 🥺Utterly wonderful . . . Cecelia Ahern is a master storyteller at the absolute peak of her powers. Her heroine, Alice Kelly, is completely unique – beguiling, complicated, extraordinary – and she’ll change the way you see the world’ Clare Pooley We follow Alice through her difficult childhood and teenage years with a selfish, uncaring mother, one brother who wants out and another who seems to sop up all his mother's negative energy. Original thinkers (when they use their powers for good.) You are supreme ruler for a day. Which law do you pass or abolish? I don’t want to give too much of the story away, which I think is so easy when giving a review – I highly recommend this book. Such a beautiful story of family and love.

I’ve just begun writing my new novel which will be the 20th novel I publish. Have you ever made a literary pilgrimage? I found all of the characters well rounded. We get to know them well through their impact on Alice. Her meeting with Naomi is a turning point, where she learns that her life can be different. Her relationship with Andy, after an idyllic start, becomes troubled at times, but they learn to deal with each other's idiosyncrasies. Her love of being out in nature and her growing understanding of plants through seeing their moods and colours was fascinating and and, for her, life-changing. I absolutely loved this audiobook! I have to rave about the Narrator, what sheer talent and brilliance! One single Narrator managed to effectively not do every single character’s distinctive voice but their tone, accent, country of origin and even dialects! From a Cork to a Dublin accent, on to Glaswegian and British. She even manages ages of characters from very young to old. An interesting fictional recount of how someone with synesthesia may see life and the world around them.Cecelia Ahern was born and grew up in Dublin. Her novels have been translated into thirty-five languages and have sold more than twenty-five million copies in over fifty countries. Two of her books have been adapted as films and she has created several TV series. Over the years, and with the help of certain people, she begins to learn how to live with this 'gift', as it is described to her, but not without many battles. I haven't read anything by Cecila Ahern for quite some time, but when I saw this on Netgalley, I had to request a copy. Thank you to them and Harper Collins for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ist es ein Fluch oder ein Segen? Alice hat die Fähigkeit, in Farben zu visualisieren. Sie kommt aus einer suboptimalen Familie und kämpft sich durchs Leben. A gorgeous cover, alas the book did not live up to it. This was pretty poor and one for diehard Cecelia Ahern fans only. The book is a laudable effort and appeals to you if you are patient and want to understand a unique life. From her extraordinarily difficult childhood, we follow Alice throughout her life, dealing with her strange gift which she cannot describe, therefore nobody can understand, and consequently has her labelled a troublemaker. Relationships with her siblings and her mother are complicated. Her school days are fraught with problems due to her condition preventing her from making friends, until she finds people she can relate to in a special school, just one of many breakthrough moments in the story. We meet Alice when she’s just eight and it’s the first time she starts seeing colour (or auras) around people. She doesn’t understand of course. She struggles with the headaches the lights give her and rebels against the emotions she absorbs from others. Alice Kelly has a gift (or curse, depending on your perspective). She sees an aura around people, sensing their emotions and moods, owing to a condition called synaesthesia. She grows up in an unhappy home with a bipolar mother who neglects Alice and her brothers. This is the story of Alice’s life and ultimately, it’s a rather odd, humdrum and depressing one. This was my first title by Cecilia Aherne and I was thoroughly engrossed in the story and am now keen to discover more of her writing.

I wanted to know, love and protect Alice. Her life starts out very tough and my heart ached for her. So many things happen in her lifetime and it’s a really emotive story. The characters are each so interesting also and their roles in Alice’s life is fascinating. This is a book that will stir many emotions. I have cried twice reading a book in my lifetime of thousands and the ending of this had tears running down my cheeks. I loved this novel . . . a rich tapestry, full of characters seeking love and acceptance on their life’s journey’ Patricia Scanlan, bestselling author of A Family Reunion It’s about a character named Alice who has the ability to see people’s emotions in the form of colours around their bodies; she sees auras. She can instantly know just by looking at someone exactly how they’re feeling, and if the colour travels to her, then she can also feel exactly as they are feeling. Alice feels that this skill is a burden, not a gift, and we follow her as she tries to navigate her own life, carve out her own path despite feeling overwhelmed by everyone around her.

Cecelia Ahern: ‘I don’t have small worries, I have big worries. Like the end of the world’ ] How challenging was it to write about mental illness and abuse? Their personalities come to life. It was like watching a movie or listening to a radio play with multiple narrators. Seriously folks, it’s utter genius and it’s what makes the audiobook just pop. I would of enjoyed the novel reading it also but this is THE best audiobook ever. A bad or boring Narrator can kill an audiobook, so choosing one carefully is a must. Kudos! The Story over all I felt had quite a bit of magical realism in bit of magical realism in it which really drawn me into the story itself, If your a fan of T.J klune then I think you will live this .
