About this deal

The clever use of fonts and text layout make it fun and easy to read as it is not too text heavy and is interspersed with expressive and funny illustrations. I must admit this is the first David Walliams book I have read. Walliams is well known for his comedy and it goes without saying that his books are filled with clever humour. I was expecting funny. What I wasn’t expecting, was the depth of issues and emotions this book dealt with as well. When Tom is declared well enough to return to school, he must find a way to stay in hospital as the Midnight Gang have one last very important mission to undertake. However, to do that, he is going to need the help of the frighteningly misshapen Porter, with his lopsided face and withered leg.

The Midnight Gang tells the extraordinarily heartwarming and funny story of five children on their quest for adventure! It is a story of friendship, magic and most importantly... making dreams and wishes come true. Brave, David - I hope this does well. It will be a lovely Christmas Dad adaptation as well. Will you be playing Tootsie this time? I had a fantastic time reading and listening to this book. Very well written and wonderfully narrated by the author. I laughed my guts out a lot through out the book. Emily wanted to read The Midnight Gang herself and offer her very own review of David Walliams’ book: I’m impressed by Mr Walliams ability to craft such memorable characters and have us care about them so much within the constraints of a children’s book that’s over far too soon. Perhaps some of the credit goes to Tony Ross, whose wonderful illustrations bring the characters to life. In fact, some of his illustrations entertained me as much as the narrative. I loved the clever touches, like his homage to E.T. when he depicted one of the book’s characters drifting high into the night sky courtesy of an enormous bunch of helium balloons.

Nelly

The brightest Character, filled with love and concern for the children, is Porter. He was left as an orphan on the steps of Lord Funt Hospital, so he has no other name, except Porter, his job is just that, a Porter to move people and things around the hospital. Where oh where does Porter live? Must people "shy away" from Porter due to his facial features, but a more loving soul one could not find at the hospital, especially the Midnight Gang. Bravo, David - I hope this does well. It will be a lovely Christmas Day adaptation as well. Will you be playing Tootsie this time? amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/p&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;gt;&amp;lt;br /&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;<br />
Life is precious. Every moment is precious. We should be kind to each other. While there is still time. The Midnight Gang. The Midnight Gang tells an extraordinarily heartwarming and, of course, funny story of five children on a hospital ward and on a quest for adventure! It is a story of friendship and magic - and of making dreams come true.

David Walliamsin "Keskiyön jengi" (Tammi, 2020) täytyi ottaa kesäiselle lukulistalle, sillä jos hyvä tuuri kävisi, saattaisi kirjasta osoittautua samanlaiseksi täysosumaksi kuin vanhat ja monikäyttöiset vinkkaussuosikit Gangsterimummi (2016) ja Poika ja mekko (2015).amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;div style="display:inline;"&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;lt;br /&amp;amp;gt;&amp;lt;br /&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;<br />
The Midnight Gang has some hilarious set-pieces that really did make me laugh. Most notably when the children’s well-meaning plans end in scenes of utter chaos involving huge quantities of helium balloons and a naked pensioner. I’ll admit it had me snorting in a most unladylike manner. Augusta, Caitlin (1 December 2017). "The Midnight Gang". School Library Journal. Archived from the original on 28 February 2023 . First of all, if you love Roald Dahl, you NEED this book in your life. But this book was over and above what I had expected it to be. I went into it thinking that this was going to be a nice middle grader-ish story that i can enjoy. But, the beautiful things that David Walliams teaches you through the course of this book is the best! I loved all the little children and by the end of the book I started to fall in love with them and wished them all the best in their lives (just like how you feel after reading a series of unfortunate events) . I wanted to hug those little kids and wish all their problems away! Walliamsia on rasittavuuteen asti verrattu Roald Dahliin, ja onhan heidän tuotannossaan jotakin yhteneväisyyksiä. Lasten täytyy tässäkin päihittää nokkeluudellaan useampia karikatyyrimaisia hirviöaikuisia, jotka tuovat mieleen Matilda -romaanin antagonistit. Walliams on kuitenkin esikuvaansa kesympi ja sovinnaisempi, eikä uskalla loppuratkaisussa painaa kaasua ihan pohjaan, vaikka mahdollisuuksia siihen olisi ollut. Vitsitkin ovat vähän liian peppupainotteisia minun makuuni. Full to the brim with heart-warming characters and witty humour, The Midnight Gang is sure to be a Walliams classic.she loves being cruel. It must made her feel powerful. That's why she made you wear that night gawn. I've read each one of David Walliams' novels for children, and this is now probably in my top three (after 'Boy in the Dress' and 'Billionaire Boy'). Bearn, Emily (3 December 2016). "The Midnight Gang proves David Walliams just keeps getting better – review". The Daily Telegraph. Archived from the original on 28 February 2023 . Retrieved 28 February 2023. I highly recommend this book the audio is very hilarious and light hearted and also have a look at the book as well. The Midnight Gang itself is lovely, an inspired if not altogether unique idea, but it is what it means that is really wonderful - at the heart of the book is the idea of doing things for others, being there for your friends, a message embedded nicely by Walliams throughout the story.
