About this deal

The successor to the BMW 6 Series (F13) is the ideal combination of the highest quality and maximum performance. The unique design already shows the ambition of the luxury sports coupé. The flat headlamps with optional laser lighting underline the flat, low-lying silhouette and represent a new aesthetic form. The clearly-drawn lines, muscular shoulder areas and the flat roof line combine the character of a sports car with the BMW luxury class' aspiration. The uncompromising driving dynamics are taken directly from motor sport, as are the xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the M sport differential and the electromechanical roll stabilization. Together with the characteristic highly efficient and powerful drive systems, the BMW 8 series Coupé delivers maximum power – up to 460 kW (625 HP) in the M8 Competition Coupé – from a double turbocharged 8-cylinder engine. At the time, it is the most powerful engine of any BMW production vehicle. These include brands like Porsche, with its Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. When some of the BMW’s interior is lifted from cars like the 3 and 5 Series, at this price point it starts to feel expensive, even if it is well built and quality is sound. sees the launch of an even more powerful version – the 850Csi – generating 280 kW (380 hp) of output with a 5.6 litre displacement. A year later, a 4.0 litre 8-cylinder engine with a power output of 210 kW (286 hp) completes the range of engines. Another version of the 12-cylinder unit, the BMW 850Ci, is available in 1994 and produces 240 kW (326 hp) with a 5.4 litre displacement. The BMW 840 is also available in a Ci version in 1995. The BMW 8 series combines the best of technology, aerodynamics and design. Avant-garde elegance and exclusive luxury unite with outstanding performance – features that are revived by the 2018 BMW 8 series (G14, G15, G16). By the end of production in 1999, more than 30,000 units of the luxury coupé have rolled off the assembly line.

Inside there’s lots of kit – everything you’d want, in fact – including a 12.3-inch digital dash panel, a 10.25-inch infotainment system that’s the best in the business, featuring nav and Apple CarPlay (but no Android Auto). There’s even a very good voice-controlled personal assistant that actually works. The BMW 8 series Gran Coupé offers a supreme ride in the city, on the motorway and along winding country roads. And is the ideal partner for long-distance road trips and journeys. Tellingly, the M8 dropped to market badged M8 Competition right from the off (in the UK, at least), which makes you wonder whether the M badge is enough on its own these days. If ‘M’ isn’t inherently analogous with competition already, then how deserving of the badge are the cars, like the M8, that currently wear it? Beyond a six-figure price tag, BMWs have sometimes struggled to justify their place in a rarefied area of the market that includes competitors such as the Porsche Panamera and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door. Both of these feel more engaging to drive and more special inside than the M8 Competition. As you’d expect from a range-topping car such as this, matrix LED headlights, a Harman Kardon sound system, four-zone climate control, adaptive cruise and lots of driver-assistance tech, such as BMW’s Parking Assistant, are fitted as standard. There is also full keyless go and a powered tailgate, while the M8 boasts BMW’s illuminated kidney grille option, although this might be a feature that repulses as many people as it excites. But BMW’s greatest rival arguably comes from within, in the form of the excellent and significantly cheaper M5 Competition. The BMW M8 has the same safety features as most normal BMWs. It’s not quite as advanced as BMW’s newer cars, such as the iX and 7 Series. So it has such safety features as lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, front collision warning with Automatic City Collision Mitigation and Braking, and Level 2 autonomous driver aids. Essentially, the M8 can brake by itself if it detects a potential crash ahead, it can make sure it doesn’t drift into other lanes, monitor its blind spots, and even accelerate, brake, and steer itself on its own while driving on the highway, for short periods of time. Competition and Advantages/Disadvantages Also available since 2019, the four-door BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé combines the extravagant luxury and sensational driving performance of the BMW 8 Series coupés with an impressive amount of space. The long wheelbase and the slightly raised roof line provides generous head and leg room. The panoramic glass roof allows plenty of light and, if needed, fresh air into the vehicle with the slide and lift function. What’s more, it creates an unobstructed view from the front to the rear window.

For further information about the official fuel consumption and the specific CO2 emission of new passenger cars can be taken out of the „handbook of fuel consumption, the CO2 emission and power consumption of new passenger cars“, which is available at all selling points and at https://www.dat.de/co2/. The M8 Competition’s tech tally has taken a step up too, with the same upgraded infotainment unit as in the regular 8 Series, now measuring 12.3 inches across compared with its predecessor’s 10.25-inch set-up. Due to regular software updates, screen designs in the communication may differ from the actual screen design in your car.Best coupes 2021 – our top-10 style-led sports cars in classical form Engine, transmission and 0-60 time The BMW 8 Series Convertible is always an unparalleled, exclusive experience. It comes as either a BMW M8 Competition Convertible with an M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder engine, or as a 6-cylinder engine option. Powerful twin power turbo petrol engines and a double turbo-charged common-rail diesel engine give the BMW 8 series Gran Coupé a unique agility and driving dynamics that place the vehicle at the forefront of its class. These are accentuated by the low center of gravity and the body’s high rigidity. The cabin is covered in leather, you get parking sensors all round with a camera, cruise control, adaptive dampers, adaptive LED lights, four-zone climate control, a head-up display, connected services, keyless operation and plenty of other features you’d expect at this price. As critical as brand purists have been of the BMW M8’s looks have never been in question. It’s a gorgeous looking car, regardless of body style. The BMW M8 was offered in three different body styles: coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe. The latter of which is a sleek four-door model that’s been the fan favorite since it debuted. However, there isn’t a bad looking car in the lineup. The coupe admittedly, gives off some Mustang vibes but that’s not an insult. Its muscular, low, and lean design makes the M8 a stunner in all shapes and sizes.

From the outside, the luxury sports coupé revolutionizes styling within its class with an athletic front, flowing silhouette and striking tail. The elegant side sections show off the extraordinary paint finishes which feature special shine and shimmer effects. The interior thrills with its progressive styling, in which everything points in one direction: forwards. The luxurious materials inside, such as the interior trims made of high-grade wood and the individual BMW leather fittings, keep the promise of an extraordinary feel. And the multitude of unique paintwork finishes means it expresses individual preferences perfectly. Official figures for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, electricity consumption and electric range were determined in accordance with the prescribed measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 as amended. WLTP figures take into account any optional equipment in the case of ranges. For vehicles newly type-approved since 01.01.2021, the official specifications exist only according to WLTP. Further information on the NEDC and WLTP measurement methods can be found at www.bmw.de/wltp It’s superbly stable at speed and doesn’t take very long to get there, sprinting from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds thanks to BMW’s M xDrive four-wheel-drive system. Its many technical innovations also make this car the most modern vehicle built by BMW at the end of the 80s. Updates include the optional self-steering rear axle and new assistance systems, such as the DSC stability system, variable-speed power steering and the Electronic Damper Control (EDC) available on the BMW 850i. The 8 Series is the first BMW to have a Cd value of less than 0.3 and a multiplex system for networking the various control systems.Subtle mid-life updates to its styling and a revised spec inside with more personalisation potential have kept the M8 Competition Gran Coupé fresh enough. However, the M5 is a better (and cheaper) bet if you want a super- saloon, while if you’re sold on the four-door coupé styling but still want an M division flavour, the M850i GC could be a better compromise and more usable. Instant messaging shorthand will forever render BMW’s performance flagship the BMW ‘Mate’, but its abilities on the road decide whether it will endure as the kind of car that will live on in evo in the years to come. As automotive facelifts go – or Life Cycle Impulses in BMW parlance – the new M8 Competition Gran Coupé is a light one. However, look closely and you’ll realise that changes have been made.
