Chalk messages of hope: Lots of people are walking outside these days, and your kids can cheer them up with hopeful messages. For literal thrills and spills, Dubai has made a name for itself when it comes to water parks. Wild Wadi, as the city’s first-ever waterpark, is a perennial favourite for adults and kids alike, with its exhilarating range of rides, surfing machines and wave pool. There’s also Laguna Waterpark, one of the newer parks on the map, located on the coast with an infinity pool and its own beach, as well as thrilling slides and a boat-themed kids pool.

Make a list of all the things you would like to do along the way and let the other chips fall where they may. Just go with it and have fun. The open road calls to all of us. One of my favorite road trips was Canada’s Cabot Trail! Join a summer reading club at your library. Or create your own, keeping a list of all the books read over the summer. Parents can participate too. Just don't expect a prize, because your kids can probably read way more books than you do!

Host a teatime: I promise many children will happily serve lemonade or juice at teatime, but I will make a proper cuppa and toast my colleagues in the UK. Write down a list of activities you and your family want to do this summer. Number your list from one to however far you get, and maybe even write it down on actual paper. If you don’t live near a farm, you could make your own strawberry planter. Choose a planter that will fit on your balcony, patio, or windowsill. Buy some seeds from your local supermarket, plant them, and make sure to look after them according to the instructions. Go to an amusement park Get your summer foodie fix:Devour heavenly treats in the surrounds of a former church at Mercato Mayfair, enjoy street food bites from KERB traders at Seven Dials Market,or hang out near the Thames at the Southbank Centre Food Market. Fancy eating dinner out of a hot air balloon? Head over to Beaverbrook Hotel in Surrey for an exciting dining experience like no other!
