About this deal

Cable management did remain an issue though, even after stripping it down and starting it again with a different build.

A look towards the front – the power button and status LED are the only front IO not integrated into the motherboard. This does limit case selection for this board markedly, but after all it is designed to be sold integrated into a chassis.

The 12600 has an Intel 770 UHD igp which offers about ~60% of the performance of the 5700g. I did not bother running extended benchmarks but just loaded Heaven and Witcher 3 for a few moments to verify this. Considering that that Ryzen APU's already struggle to deliver 1080p performance in most modern games, the Intel igp is basically obsolete for all modern games as it won't even be able to deliver acceptable 720p performance. Running 4000mhz CL17 memory didn't seem to help much. Small update, a revision with 40mm Fan has been tested & drops temps by 10C, this gives the HDplex stable ~55C temps at sustained 200w load. Up to three video outputs can be used simultaneously for productivity and multitasking. DisplayPort 1.4 ports allow you to enjoy Ultra HD content on an 8K monitor or TV. When it comes to storage, DeskMini B660 series provides two M.2 2280 PCIe slots. One of them supports the latest PCI Express 5.0 standard, which is ready to be compatible with next-gen superfast devices, doubling the bandwidth of PCIe 4.0. All of your apps and programs will load with lightning speed which makes you working or gaming faster than ever. Rotating around to the audio section, here’s a basic configuration around a Realtek ALC897 chip. Nothing exciting, but more than enough for the business orientated focus of this system. There’s more than enough USB to have a dedicated USB DAC for audio.

I'll probably keep the 50mV under-volt as you can see that the CPU temp gone done tremendously even after 30mins compared to before which is only 15~20mins. And because it is running cooler all the time, it's actually running at higher max average 4GHz instead of 3.5GHz. Yes I won't hit 4.4GHz max but I'm willing to make that trade off for power/thermal efficiency. The box is a greasy fingerprint magnet – sorry! I guess I was super excited to unbox this new concept in SFF.

A single wavy heatsink on the basic VRM setup. There’s a reason this board is rated only for processors up to 65W. I’ll dig deeper into the board later in this article. Have a chat about this article in the forum here, or join our Discord here (requires forum membership). Intel B660 Graphics card: iGPU of the processor, support for Operation of 4 displays simultaneously RAM: Not included, Quite a big cutout internally for GPU cooling, enabling single and dual fan GPUs up to 200mm long. Also to note, if you haven’t installed a graphics card in your DeskMeet, you have the option of mounting a slim(!) 120mm closed loop cooler, a 120mm intake fan, two 2.5″ drives, or a single 2.5″ drive. Note, the board only has 3 SATA ports in the B660 guise, and two in the X300 AMD guise.

UL's newest 3DMark SSD Gaming Test is the most comprehensive SSD gaming test ever devised. We consider it to be superior to testing against games themselves because, as a trace, it is much more consistent than variations that will occur between runs on the actual game itself. This test is, in fact, the same as running the actual game, just without the inconsistencies inherent to application testing. The memory kit I have used is comprised of 2 pairs of G-Skill F4-3600C18-8GVK, making up 32gb total. A not inexpensive configuration, but definitely affordable. As the score shows, this is a good configuration for this system. However, it does seem like users may not be using the correct speed for this model of memory, with a few benchmark results for this kit running at 2133mHz. On the other hand, w/o the care of damaging the case, user could cut or drill some holes on the front of the case and mount the 120mm fan, and that maybe the best way to cool the unit. But I would put extreme caution on doing this. Make sure you have the M/B out of the case first. And clean the case w/ extra caution after cutting or drilling hole on the metal plate. Files and sand the holes well after. Any small piece of loose metal shard flowing inside the cause could turn your PC into door stop or even even your house into ash.

To the front of the board, the front IO exposed! Nothing special hiding here, just a few VRMs to the right hand side in front of the 24 Pin ATX connector, and a few headers to mention. Ok, let’s throw a GPU load in. How about Unigine Valley? Running this at high settings at 1080p raised the power draw to 205 watts, about what I’d expect as a realistic maximum load for this configuration. With this load, the CPU reached a maximum of 59°C over ambient, and the GTX1060 6GB SC sat happily, and obscenely loudly, at 68°C above ambient. No thermal throttling was observed. Yes, this board is marked as a B660-ITX, which would be a little misleading if the board was sold separately, considering the physical configuration of the board.Well well well, 1998, we meet again. Stamped, single use expansion slot covers? Is a blood sacrifice to the PC gods incoming?
