About this deal

Medway Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information and Advice Support service (SENDIAS) provides a range of free and impartial help to parents/carers, children and young people. We are part of Sefton’s Early Years’ Service, we work in close partnership with wider services across Sefton including the Special Educational Needs Inclusion Service (SENIS). The Early Years SEND Team support children from birth to 5 years. The team support early years settings and schools to follow and implement the Graduated Approach in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice.

Alongside the Liverpool Educational Psychology Service, SENISS hold Practitioner Advice Sessions (PAS) in Early Years Consortia. These are an opportunity for settings to discuss strategies and recommendations for a child in their setting with SEND concerns. Permission to discuss any child must be sought from parents or carers prior to the PAS. Within the Private, Voluntary & Independent (PVI) sector, SENISS offer Specialist Advisory Teacher support to the setting and will work with them and you to identify and support any additional educational needs that your child may have. The Specialist Advisory Teacher time for a setting is accessed through the consortia model.The best way to use the videos is to sit down and watch them with your child, engage with the videos, and play along. These would be great for teachers and other staff who are putting together homeworking plans and could include the videos too. These videos are designed for children with Down's syndrome, but can help so many more. Contribute to the multi-professional assessment of children’s needs, including children with complex learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental needs. If you are not happy about the help that your child is receiving the first step is to talk to their teacher, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) or the headteacher.We can help you to prepare for a meeting with school. Are you a parent with concerns about your child or would you like an informal chat about what to expect from our service? Signposting and information about other services that may be able to offer help or advice to a family. It was designed by 21 Together and is free of charge to every child with Down’s Syndrome in the UK. This means your child may have a sensory impairment or a physical disability that means they need extra support and resources to be able to access their learning. What should you do? This means your child may struggle to speak or to understand what is being said to them. They may also have difficulties with social interactions and with following social rules about communication. We hope to make children and young people with SEND more aware of what they’re entitled to, and the options available to them, and their parents and carers. Our Early Years Specialist Advisory Teachers offer a wide menu of support to our Early Years Settings through the Universal Offer. This support includes pupil specific observations and assessments, consultations and coaching, collaborative working and awareness raising training modules.
