About this deal

One of the most enduring crossover hits ever (and a must-sing karaoke song), “Islands in the Stream” paired country superstars Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton to perform a duet of the Bee Gees-penned ballad. The 1983 song, which appeared on Rogers’ LP, Eyes That See in the Dark, topped country and pop charts around the world, giving both Parton and Rogers their second No.1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. 02: Diana Ross & Lionel Richie – Endless Love (1981) This, this is my Codenames. I admit I was skeptical at first. More Codenames? Blah. But there is something about Codenames: Duet that really elevates it above its predecessors for me. It takes a game that, for me, was just a party game to be played when I had a big group, to something that I actually seek to bring to the table. It is legal to give a clue for zero. For example, if you want your partner to guess ELEPHANT, ANT, and MOSQUITO while avoiding the assassin SLOTH, you can give a clue like lazy: 0. This will indicate that your partner should avoid SLOTH, and your partner might even be able to see that SLOTH is getting in the way of an easy clue like animals: 3.

While “Señorita” wasn’t Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s first duet together (2015’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” was), the steamy duet did spark a romance between the real-life couple. The song, which appeared on Mendes’ 2018 self-titled album and Cabello’s Romance LP (2019), became one of the hottest songs of the summer, hitting No.1 in over 35 countries: from the US to Brazil and China to Russia. 44: Frank & Nancy Sinatra – Somethin’ Stupid (1967) Each turn costs you one timer token from the time bank. Either it is used by the clue giver to mark a bystander the guesser touches, or it is taken by the guesser to indicate he or she is done guessing. Though each game has limitations in terms of the number of people who can play, I think they’re well worth the restrictions. If you’re totally new to the game, I’d suggest starting with original Codenames, as its game play is simpler—unless you anticipate only having two players available, in which case Codenames Duet is the way to go. If you think you have a good clue, you are supposed to speak up. You also need to say a number that tells your teammates how many codenames your clue is associated with. How Do You Play Codename? In this simple game, players take turns drawing a card with a prompt. Then, they must say three things that fit the prompt within five seconds. If you play Codenames with large enough teams, the operatives can discuss what words the clue might be associated with. When you have people with particularly creative minds, it can become far-fetched and downright hysterical. What’s more, the other team (operatives and spymaster) can try to muddy the waters of the opposition’s guesses by pointing out additional words and how they could relate to the clue. You might not find all the words related to your partner's first clue. Maybe your turn ended early because of a wrong guess, or maybe you chose to end it early because you weren't willing to risk running into an assassin. Codenames is a party game with a spy theme that involves word association. The game mostly consists of clue cards that form a 5×5 grid of words on the table.

Note: You cover a green word with a green agent card even if it wasn't one of the words you meant. Do not let your partner know. You should act like you meant that word. Of course, you can also play the standard 9-token mission again. With so many key cards and words, each game will be completely different. Scoring A 9-token Mission This is also important to keep in mind when you are thinking up clues. Your partner will have another chance to guess a word he or she missed on your first clue, so it might not be necessary to give another clue for that same word. Guessing The Last Word

21: Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald – Cheek to Cheek (1956)

Codenames: Duet is a bit more of a demanding and cooperative challenge for two players or for teams that enjoy switching between the spymaster and operative roles each turn. In short, in this game: The team that enters first will get its 8 agents and dual agent cards and face the spies of the team. During the normal game, if you voluntarily stop guessing after one or more successes, then you take one of the bystander tokens and flip it over to show a file. (Thus, whether you hit a bystander or stop on your own, one token is removed from play.) The number of tokens thus indicates how many turns remain in the game. If you go to Yakutsk, then you start with four bystanders and four files. If you stop voluntarily, then you take a file; if you finger a bystander, then you place a bystander; if you can't place a bystander token (because you've already placed them all), then you must take two file tokens, flip them to the bystander side, and place both of them on the word card. Boom — two turns lost in one go. Honestly, this game has probably made me laugh the hardest of any party game I’ve ever played. It’s a bit of a different vibe than Codenames, but so much fun.

Each mission has two parameters. The first number is the total number of turns. When setting up a mission, put this many tokens in the time bank and leave the rest in the box. Moscow uses only 8, while Berlin uses all 11. Cairo uses 9, just like the standard Prague mission. Leave 2 timer tokens in the box. Only 9 tokens are used in the standard game. However, this game is quite challenging. A 10th or 11th token can be added to make it a little easier. These extra tokens are colored blue to remind you to use only 9 in the standard setup. Your partner can make another guess if the first guess was correct. (You do not give another clue). The second guess is made the same way as the first, and you mark the word according to the same rules. If that guess is correct, your partner can guess again. And again. Your partner can make an unlimited number of correct guesses. Codenames: The Simpsons Family Edition was released in November 2019 and features characters and references from the eponymous television series. Its gameplay is identical to Codenames: Pictures. One month later, CGE released another licensed spin-off called Codenames: Blizzard Edition, featuring characters and references from the video game franchises by Blizzard Entertainment, such as Warcraft and Diablo. This particular edition is never available for retail, and was gifted exclusively to Blizzard employees around Christmas.

01: Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (1967)

Invalid evidence includes the head of the spy network providing body language or signals to the agents. It’s a word association game except it is cooperative. That means everyone is essentially playing for the same team. To succeed, most of your clues need to connect two or more words. Don't be afraid to give clues that are a bit of a stretch. Your partner knows that not every clue will be a perfect match. Just beware of the assassins. Anderson, Nate (2015-11-14). "Ars Cardboard: Codenames, the secret agent party game you've been seeking".
