Another reason might be because what they witnessed and experienced in their years of medical practice doesn't align with what they learned in school. After listening to some talks by Chopra and especially after reading his introduction to the book, I was excited for an invigorating investigation of death through the Vedanta lens; bolstered by Chopra's scientific background, but not inhibited by it.
