About this deal

In terms of what he is advocating for and what he aims to inspire people to do, this book is another banger. By sharing his life experiences, he has given all of us a blueprint on not only how to pick ourselves up but also how to excel in the face of overwhelming adversity and "stay hard" in the process. Goggins goes further into challenges he had to tackle throughout his life, giving us great advice and actionable steps we can take into our own lives to reach our best potential.

At times I felt that I should not be sitting about reading and should be out there working on my 'better' self. However, this book seemed to just be Goggins sharing story after story of accomplishing amazing feats without training and with major health problems. One that eliminates all doubt, makes you certain of your strength and the fact that eventually, you will prevail, so long as you keep moving forward.

While I can relate with his relentless mindset, it is the constant recurrence of his self sabotage/self damage that is for the most part “avoidable” through overworking and lack of preparation for certain events.

However, his path was anything but smooth and he’s faced countless challenges along the way, beginning back in childhood. He argues that we are all capable of achieving great things, but we need to first unshackle our minds and win the war within.

You’ll no doubt be motivated and inspired by David’s story and you’ll definitely have a spring in your step going forwards. I had to sit with that doubt, stare into it, and, more often than not, I had no answers, no good reason to think I would ever get here because I kept falling short for one reason or another. A sought-after public speaker, he’s traveled the world sharing his philosophy on how to master the mind. There is great beauty when you are involved in something that is so hard most people want it to end. If you're ready to break free from self-imposed limitations, this book is a must-read – a powerful roadmap to unleashing your full potential.

I've admired Goggins for quite some time now and wanted this book to give me wisdom for overcoming adversity. Whatever it takes for you to believe that you’re better than good enough to achieve your dreams is what you must do. It broadens your concept of your own capability, yet it is the first thing we lose touch with when things go bad. David Goggins had his mother feature in the recordings where there was a conversation at the end of one of the chapters and that was one of the most heartbreaking yet enlightening and inspiring conversations I’ve ever heard whilst listening to an Audible book.I 100% agree with the opinion of pushing yourself to the utmost limits to achieve truly great things, but from what he states throughout his book is he seems to push too far and too hard and thus resulting in significant injuries/burnout.
