About this deal

Some panels are made from an MDF type material which can then be modified easily to your bathroom by either staining or painting. Using your tape measure and handsaw, measure the length of your bath and carefully cut your wooden batten so that they are the same length. Adjust the height of the plinth if your panel has one. Some bath panels, typically wooden ones, come with a "plinth," which is a plank that screws in along the bottom of the panel. It overlaps the main panel so you can move it up and down to adjust the height. Lay the plinth on the floor and then place the edge of the panel on top so they're overlapping. Move the panel up and down on the plinth until the height reaches the measurement you took for your opening. [5] X Research source

Drill 2 wooden screws in at a 45-degree angle toward the floor at the bottom, going through the side and footing into the floor. Drill 2 shorter screws into the wood underneath the lip of the tub, also going at a 45-degree angle. Our collection includes engineered wood, acrylic and motor coated foam panels. The best material for a bath panel will depend on a number of factors including your budget and preferred style. One common misconception when purchasing a bath panel for your bath is matching the brand of the bath panel with the brand of the bath. Of course, this isn’t the case, with Bathroom City supply a number of different sized bath panels to suit any installation.

4. Screw down the wood batten

You must be in full time employment unless retired or a house person with a spouse in full time employment. Using your pencil, make markings where the panel sits on the floor. This will be used as a guide for your wooden batten. Then you want to cut your wooden batten so that it is the same height as your bath. Do this carefully with your hand saw.

Rebated wood is wood that has a groove cut into the edge - so you can slot the panel under the groove. Before you begin, there are a few things that you will need to install your acrylic panel correctly. Are you planning a new bathroom or kitchen makeover? 3. Mark the position of the bath panel

Make sure that your wooden panel has a wooden plinth. This allows you to adjust the height of your panel if needed and also assists with any slanting. This can be fitted either behind the panel to add more depth. Or in front to create a “skirting” look. You might find that your wooden plinth needs to be trimmed if you have skirting boards in the way. If you need to trim your plinth, ensure that you seal any cut edges with wood varnish to protect from water damage. Align your bath panel to the side of your bath, using the spirit level to ensure that the panel is perfectly straight from top to bottom.

When your panel - or panels - are ready, put them into position to see how it fits against the bath and wall. If you have made an “L”-shaped panel, it could be left free-standing if secure enough. However, there are options available for securing a panel in place. Now, use a silicone sealant and sealant gun along all of the joints. This will make the edges around your panel waterproof and prevent any water damage. If you are using a plinth that isn’t already attached then you may need to cut it to size, so follow the above instruction. Then, attach it to the main panel with adhesive. Using your electric drill and wood screws, drill your wooden batten into the wall using the markings that you made previously. So, Plumbworld has created this guide to all things bath panels, and we’ll discuss how to fit a bath panel, the different types, how to cut them, and more…
