This medication does not work right away. Some people will feel this medication working within 3 days, but it may take up to 2 weeks before the full benefit of this drug takes effect. The conjunctiva will not be exposed to allergens directly, so the symptoms that origin from the conjunctiva’s mast cells will be less severe than the ones caused in the nasal mucosa. The mast cells are also present in the conjunctiva underneath the eyelids. Although the conjunctiva is not exposed directly to allergens in the air, allergens touching the exposed cornea may be trapped by tears and could be distributed to the conjunctiva.
