About this deal

Around four hours flying time from the UK, the island is the closest genuine winter sun destination to home. It boasts the most amazing volcanic scenery, forged by six-year eruptions during the 1730´s,leaving about one quarter of the island submerged beneath a sea of solid lava. The three main tourist resorts are Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen, and there is a fast emerging ‘fourth resort’ of Puerto Calero, often referred to as the “Millionaires Marina”. Lanzarote is an ideal launch pad for island hopping, as both Fuerteventura and La Graciosa are only a short ferry ride away.

Covered in colourful plants, cacti and succulents, even the pots are adorable! It’s right by the water in an area where people tend to gather, either for the views or to visit popular food and drink spot, Bar La Piscina. I loved all the details at Casa Carmelina, Punta Mujeres Enjoy a gourmet dinner in LanzaroteSmall fishing village - and an amazing beach - on the North-West coast, which is highly popular with local and international surfers.

El Navarro in Costa Teguise – Fine-dining in a chic setting. Enjoy some of the best cooking on the island here! Book a table in advance as it gets busy! Cycling and running are also quite widely enjoyed for the more energetic amongst us, the balmy climate and safe roads making for a very pleasant experience. Then our comprehensive sightseeing guide will provide you with all of the information that you need to know. Stay in northern Fuerteventura to soak up the surf vibe in El Cotillo, Corralejo and Lajares, hike to tiny, beach-side Majanicho, take a day trip to the near-deserted Isla de Lobos (for snorkelling, paddleboarding and more) and get away from it all in the dune-lined Parque Natural de Corralejo. Around 15km south of Corralejo, La Oliva is known for its historical architecture and the Centro de Arte Canario Casa Mané, devoted to Canarian greats.Divers will want to plunge into the tranquil waters off La Restinga, which is also renowned for its seafood restaurants. Another El Hierro speciality are its sparkling natural pools; jump in at El Golfo’s La Maceta, Los Sargos or Charco Azul, at Cala de Tacorón near La Restinga or at Tamaduste in the north-east. Located just 10 minutes drive from the Airport, Puerto del Carmen is Lanzarote’s busiest, oldest and liveliest resort. Restaurant El Diablo in Timanfaya National Park – While food quality isn’t great, the restaurant setting is pretty incredible! I’d recommend stopping here for a coffee and admiring the spectacular lunar landscapes through the glass. Read more about my experience in my El Diablo review. Lunch with a view at El Diablo Restaurant, Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen is set up for all types of visitors, however, and there’s plenty to do and enjoy for families and the older generation. El Chiringuito in Arrieta – A great bar for mojitos! Very reasonable and right on the beach with a lovely view.

Las Bajas in Famara – A great brunch / lunch spot in this cool surf town. Lots of vegetarian options too. Las Bajas in Famara has lots of vegetarian options Costa Teguise is well situated to explore the many tourist attractions in the North of Lanzarote, such as the Cueva de los Verdes, Jameos del Agua and the Jardin de Cactus. All of which were created by local artist César Manrique, whose former home and studio is also just a ten minute drive away in Tahiche. So if you are planning to combine sunbathing with sightseeing Costa Teguise is an excellent choice. Things To DoNot everybody wants to stay in a holiday resort, and Lanzarote offers two great alternatives for those people – Arrecife and rural Lanzarote. The last eruption was in 1824, so don’t fear about activity while you’re there! The bus tour is amazing as you pass through skinny cavernous like areas, see right inside craters, take in views of desert dunes and endless landscapes of lava fields. As a little tip, I’d recommend sitting on the right side of the bus. This side offers better views on the whole, although you might see more of the craters from the left side. You’ll see geysers in Timanfaya National Park
