About this deal

There some serious flaws in the one I recieved. The clips that attach to the frame are wonky, secondly, the rain fly is to small. Won't cover the tent. We’ve included a number of off-the-shelf options in the listing, but there’s nothing to stop you using a cheap or second-hand child trailer too – just note that dog-specific trailers tend to offer a lowered entry for easy access and a more robust, utility finish, with a liner that’s easily removed for washing and is more resistant to paws and claws. Smaller dogs, weighing in at 5-10kg or so, are likely best off in a basket or milk crate. The Time Out Camper offers a surprising amount of space considering the trailer itself is so small. The camper folds out into a living space with enough room to fit a queen sized bed and a place to relax complete with table and folding chair.

Fast folding: The bike camper be be set up in 3 mins, no more time comsuming set up as the conventional tent. Simply put, trailers are fantastic tools for transforming our existing bikes into something completely new, transcending what we thought we can do with them. They can be used to carry ski equipment or kayaks. To haul water for trips through deserts. To ferry our children on family adventures. Even to bring along our pets. The CampMaster is the most compact and easy to use trailer tent available in the UK to date, yet despite its diminutive dimensions it can comfortably accommodate two people! CampMaster trailer tents are versatile and requires very little storage space when not in use. The Mini Camp motorcycle camper is a lightweight trailer suitable for bigger motorcycles like GoldWings and BMW. The camper has a number of optional extras, but in its original form it offers a: Eco rating: Entirely carbon neutral (if electricity for electric bicycle is bought from a sustainable provider)The soon to be released Sentier is the only convertible trailer/trolley option. Within 23 seconds you’re able to convert your trailer into a travel trolley and vise versa. The only downside to this design is the additional weight; it works out to be about 25% heavier than a BOB trailer and drybag. If you live in the UK, you can hire all kinds of trailers – for children, dogs, and cargo – as well as tag-alongs from Bike Trailer Hire. The company also sells its rental fleet too. For this Gear Index, we’re focusing on models that are designed with off-road use in mind and are certified for human transportation, but dig around online and you’ll find plenty of more affordable alternatives as a means of going car-lite.

Given the large single storage space of trailers, you can fit long tent poles and other bulky items into trailers. The tent has an ample height, meaning most people will be able to stand up at their full height on cosy evenings. Michael Janzen of Tiny House Design envisions a lightweight teardrop trailer for bikes in this concept illustration, pointing out that a company called Human Powered Machines makes bike trailers that can carry up to 500 pounds. Of course, whether the person riding the bicycle can tow that much is another question. The CaravanLoads: The bike camper can also carry up to 50 lbs of gears. Carry gears on the camper can let you have better bike maneuverbility, compare to carry gears on the bike frame. It's recommeded to use rachet straps to secure all of your gears on the camper. The Weber Monoporter is another trailer option that folds flat. Its name is derived from the fact that the wheel attaches from just a single side. This trailer works out to be quite lightweight too as it doesn’t use a side frame to stabilise the bag on the sides. Trailers that hitch to the seatpost impact the handling of your bike less than those that mount to dropouts. They also have a much tighter turning circle, which is useful for day to day use. However, as the steering axis is further forward, they cut corners and catch in brush – an issue on tight and winding trails, and city furniture too – so you’ll need to take this into account when you ride.

Carry’s Freedom’s Y is one in two trailer models, the newer, city-inspired Leaf being the other. The Y comes in two sizes. I’ve used the smaller of the two in the past – an earlier version, as pictured below – for both travelling in the Indian Himalaya and car-free living in the UK, and it proved extremely robust. Camp-let Passion is the perfect trailer tent for a family of 4. You get no less than 18 m 2 of holiday accommodation as standard, with a range of expansion options. If you need more room for sleeping, this model can be extended to accommodate up to 8 people, with an annex on both sides.Adventure Outdoor Co. make this single wheel bike trailer which can fold flat for storage or plane travel. The rather affordable CT1 is supplied with a large drybag and flag to get you on the road without fuss. A recommendation by users is that the low-quality rear tyre is replaced for something a bit harder wearing. You already lug around enough weight when you’re bicycle touring. I’ve capped the trailer weight to 10kg because the below trailers have an adequate carrying capacity of 30kg+.

The tent can be assembled in around five to six minutes, making it perfect for a busy touring holiday or bike rally trip. Aspen Classic If you are opting for a second-hand trailer, bear in mind that for regular, off-pavement adventures, we’d always recommend choosing one of the more reputable trailers on the market. A trailer designed for riding mellow rail trails and bike paths will be different from one intended for more rugged terrain, and this will always be reflected in the price, and in the case of child trailers, a form of suspension. But if your needs are more modest, there are all kinds of keenly priced options to be found on Craigslist and the like. Trawl the web and you’ll find lots of fabulous prototypes that have never been built, simply because there aren’t enough people to buy them. And when production is small, prices need to be higher. Many heavier dogs prefer the stability of a two-wheel trailer – especially larger ones – because it won’t tilt from side to side as you ride. But for medium-sized dogs especially, single-wheel trailers can be a great option – search the internet (and the comments below) and you’ll see all kinds of ‘unofficial’ contraptions that owners have made to convert BOB Yaks for pet transportation. Either way, it may take a little time before your best friend is used to #dogtrailerlife, or they may love it immediately. For those showing concern, try putting their favourite blanket or toys in the trailer and use it to take them for walks initially to build up a positive association.

The Aevon KIT L80 is one in a number of single-wheel trailers in the Aevon familu. It’s made from burly, oversized aluminum tubing in France and sports a full complement of branded components – all of which is reflected in its price tag.
