About this deal

If this isn’t an issue, then you can opt for the 5040s variation or other models from the updated series (like the 5140/5145s for example). It is also good for precision trimming and detailing. The Braun 5018s is a wet/dry shaver that works well at shaving with shaving cream, gel, foam, and water. Braun used a rechargeable Li-ion battery in the shaver that provides 50 minutes of runtime with a 1-hour charge. But again, while the station is nice to have, it’s not absolutely necessary and if your budget is limited you can skip it. And that’s a bit odd since all of them are actually compatible with the stations shipped with the 2020 Series 7 and 6 (the station type is 5434). Braun released different models in different versions of series 5 shavers. At the first release of Braun Series 5, Braun brought their shavers with 5xx numeric assertion (550s, 560s, 590cc). The first-generation shavers are not available on the market now. The second-generation Series 5 shavers were released with 50xx numeric assertion (5090cc, 5050cc) where very few are available.

Charging and Battery – The rechargeable Li-Ion should provide a user with 50 minutes of runtime, and it takes approximately 1 hour for the battery to charge fully. This means you can rinse them with water, but also shave in the shower or with your favorite shaving cream or gel. There are a few foil shavers with only two cutting elements, but the performance is far from stellar. They also don’t come with a cleaning station and the reliability isn’t the best (for example in the case of Wahl shavers).Because of this limitation and the fact that pretty much all Braun shavers are fiddly to clean manually, the Series 5 is probably not the best option if you plan on shaving with cream or gel. So which one should you get? Since the differences between them are not significant, I would simply get the one I can find at a better price. When the battery is almost drained, the red plug icon will light up, indicating that you must charge it. Shaving performance

At least at this moment, the price difference between the 5090cc and the 5030s is marginal. Braun Series 5 5090cc vs 5190cc/5195cc I am in the market for a new electric shaver. I want to get the closest fastest shave I can while still meeting some other requirements. Cost is not an issue, but I’ve ruled out some of the top-end shavers like the Braun Series 9 and the Panasonic Arc 5 because of the large size of the head. I have sideburns and often a mustache or goatee too, and I think trying to follow the edges or shave the space between my sideburns and mustache/goatee would be like trying to parallel park a school bus! I was also very excited about the new series 7/6/5 family, but because of the larger frame around the head I have ruled those out too. I don’t want a bulky head obstructing my view of the foils as I try to shave along the edges of my beard. Always attach plug to appliance first, then to outlet. To disconnect, turn all controls off, then remove plug from outlet.Which one should you buy? Well, if you need wet/dry capabilities then the 5040s is the one to have. If you don’t then you should pay a bit more and go for the 5090cc instead; it’s basically a 5030s with a cleaning station and a hard travel case. The Series 5 from Braun should definitely be considered by anyone looking for a high-quality foil shaver that doesn’t have a premium price tag. Shaving flat and long hairs with the 5018s is when the downgrade from the previous cassette is the most obvious. You should let the shaver air dry completely (with the cassette removed) before storing it in a cabinet.

I’d say that the 5018s and the rest of the models in this lineup will be suitable for someone with light to medium facial hair. I wouldn’t be too worried about this as we’ve seen this happening with other newly launched Braun models in the past.I would personally opt for the 5050cc for the reasons outlined above and because it also costs less. You should switch the shaver on for a few seconds after that to help distribute the oil evenly across the cutters. You wrote in the article that you don’t recommend Braun for wet shaving, because manual cleaning is problematic. But does wet shaving itself with an electric razor (especially Braun series 5) give a better effect than a dry shave? And can wet shaving take place e.g. in the shower, but without any foam/gel? LED Display – A simple LED display shows when the shaver is charging, how much charge is left (3 lights for fully charged), and other indicator lights.
