I didn't understand then how she ended up pregnant because I'm assuming that James couldn't get her pregnant.

My copy of this novella included two more short stories along with Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke - those are, The Enchantment and You'll Find It's Like This All Over. The unpredictability of TikTok and Twitter—where virality is due to some incalculable alchemy of timing and circumstance—works in favor of small presses like Weirdpunk. LaRocca's point about queer representation is important for Richard and Weirdpunk, too: "Representation in horror—that's a whole big thing for me. instead there's the brutal slaying of a salamander, and consumption of raw meat and bugs as part of a quest to host a parasite. Things that could have been used to unsettle the reader (how does a teenager crucify themselves, alone?

In certain respects this is reminiscent of old school Clive Barker too, but I can’t put my finger on exactly why. Originally published on its own, it was later reprinted with two additional stories as Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke And Other Misfortunes.

I guess that’s what makes people do horrible things – they think whatever they’re doing isn’t nearly as bad as what somebody else will do. I wish I could tell you that I was struck by that image, and then I couldn't stop thinking about it until I read it, and then I continued to not be able to stop thinking about it because the work itself was also good.first shows up as part of a story Zoe tells, and is referenced a few times afterwards, usually in reference to Zoe's psychological hold over Agnes. A lover of luxury fashion and an admirer of European musical theatre, Eric can often be found roaming the streets of his home city, Boston, MA, for inspiration. What she doesn’t seem to notice is how the gas dial for the stovetop has been left on, gas hissing as it leaks into the air. In the title story, a chance encounter on a message board quickly spirals out of control in a series of direct messages that leads to death.
