JIM BESHEARS: We wanted to go back and take a look at the soundtrack, and again like on Wendy’s side the technology has advanced quite a bit in the last ten years from when we started on the first Shrek movie and we certainly wanted to take advantage of that. Shrek became our north star and it showed us what a DreamWorks animated movie should and could aspire to be. The two extra speakers do more work here than any other, placing much needed sound effects and commotion of battles perfectly, giving us all that much anticipated felling of "being there.Just in case you didn't know, I feel compelled to point out as soon as possible that Shrek not only won the very first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, but it premiered nearly 20 years ago at the Cannes Film Festival, where the film competed for the prestigious Palme d'Or. Instead of relying so much on fairy tale references, 'Shrek Forever After' seems to take quite a bit of influence, oddly enough, from ' Back to the Future 2,' and ' It's a Wonderful Life. The second and third film could be used as demo-material during a few of their scenes, but 'Shrek Forever After' and its 1080p image could be used as demo-material throughout its entire runtime. He specializes in writing about horror and animation, and yearns for the day a good animated horror project comes along so he can combine the two.

He plots his revenge against Shrek and Fiona by enlisting the local villains such as Captain Hook and some menacing talking trees.
