About this deal

I laughed out loud at some of the antics and the things that Tara’s oldest would come out with and her oldest boy was hilarious.

I think the audio version of this read would have been more enjoyable to hear the author herself saying it as I read this I pictured her voice saying everything. The thing of you never know what someone is going through so be nice to everyone should be thought by everyone. I feel that Tara should have more faith in herself, she doubted her self-worth quite often and her family should appreciate her more. Meeting regularly at Ludden beach, on the outskirts of Buncrana, the women have also benefited socially from the group. Comedian, author, actress, presenter and public speaker, Serena Terry known as Mammy Banter has taken the social media world by storm thanks to her relatable and hilarious videos going viral across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). It's a great read, funny and engaging, but I think I expected too much from Serena after being a massive fan of her Tiktok account Mammy Banter. All in all this was a fun and fluffy read that I very much enjoyed for what it was, I have also seen there is a sequel, “The Shite Before Christmas”, that also follows Tara and her tribe so I will definitely be reading that! To read Tara going weak at the knees for Luke while still adamant she loves Paul was beyond annoying.

Mammy Banter

As a Mam of 3 children myself I can completely relate to how Serena feels although mine are very different in age, it sometimes feels like they are the same age as Serena’s children. She makes a “fuck it list” to set about improving her life, including getting into shape, spicing up her marriage, and overhauling her look. Had it on audio and there were lots of laugh out loud moments, was worth the listen whilst chilling on a sun lounger in sunny Lanzarote on a girls holiday.sad mom wants to make life changes, does things she hates to make these life changes, realizes she had it within her the whole time.

The Secret Life of an Uncool Mum by Serena Terry - Waterstones

As a matter of fact, she takes a beating over almost anything, but the biggest issue is she gives herself the most extensive beatings. I don't care that I received strange looks from my family as I walked around the house with headphones on, howling with laughing and talking to a fictional character. She used to dream of being Beyoncé but suddenly she's thirty-six and instead of headlining Glastonbury, she's in her pyjamas on a Friday night, watching Gogglebox. I loved seeing these two boys team up, I can already smell there is going to be even more trouble when Jax is really able to walk and run and do everything. Tara thinks she needs to up her game to impress her 13 year old daughter, Gemma, who is continually embarrassed by her.I want to say that this book is bad ass but unfortunately here are just a few problems I had with it.

The Secret Life of an Uncool Mum By Serena Terry |The Works

Keen to maintain a work-life balance, Serena has even taken advice from her fictional creation Tara, in taking time out for herself and building new friendships. Serena Terry did a fantastic job describing what real mom life is like, the ups, downs, happy, sad, gross and hilarious aspects of daily life. The ethos of Mammy Banter was to go against the grain of social media, with no product placement or air brushing. Yet I think I only finished because I hoped Tara would come to her sense and see she was the problem. She used to dream of being Beyoncé but suddenly she’s thirty-six – with three kids, a loving husband, a very boring job – and instead of headlining Glastonbury, she’s in her pyjamas on a Friday night, watching Gogglebox. It’s time to claw back and uncover some of her old self and try not to mortally embarrass her kids in the process. This is a warts and all look at parenthood, don't expect it through a veneer of an Instagram filter here, this isn't a yummy mummy, this is a real Irish woman, wishing she could re-find her inner Beyoncee, and hoping that she is still regarded as being cool. But parts of this novel actually just built my anxiety; Maybe this is just me and I am just hypersensitive and could relate strongly to the scenarios that Tara was going through.
